Scarisbrick Avenue
by sandysmith
Scarisbrick Avenue is one of several avenues linking Lord Street (the shopping area) with the seafront promenades and pier entrance. Lots of eateries - mainly fish and chip cafes - and pubs can be found here as well as candy floss and rock shops and all the usual seaside stalls.
SHOP BY THE BEACH
by jetwind
A new shopping and leisure complex has been built by the beach front road called ocean plaza. Here you can play ten pin bowling or watch a blockbuster movie at the local VUE cinema. When your hungry try a bite to eat Frankie and Benny’s or burger at Macdonald’s or a taste of Mexico at Chiquito.
Alternatively you can always go oriental at Elements restaurant.
SOUTHPORT
by GypsyBessie
"Day Trip to Southport"
I spent many a happy hour in Southport during my childhood and I still enjoy a day out there. Also, my father's grandmother was born in Churchtown, Southport and he had a lot of memories of visiting relatives there in the 1920's.
"The Boating Lake"
Southport is a good place for walking, either on the beach or around the boating lake, as it is very flat and easy to get around. There are the usual amusement arcades, a fairground and a pier etc.
"View from a bridge"
This picture is taken from a bridge over the lake. Southport was very popular in the Victorian era, when people travelled by train.
