local VT meet

by anitpotter

hi
im new here but have found this site really valuable in the last few days as ive been struggling with travel plans. im now off for 2 weeks but wonder whethre there have been any local norwich meets or whether anyone would be interested in coming along to one? i was thinking just a midweek meet in a pub or something?

You could post a meeting. The meeting page is here: http://meetings.virtualtourist.com/calendarEntry-0-1-World----calendarEntry.html

Good luck!

Good idea but midweek VT meetings are difficult for most people as they work.

Try something for the weekend.

If you want to wait for a little while and come to a meeting, I have one planned for September up North in Halifax.

Which Norwich? Connecticut or Vermont?

Erm...the one in Norfolk, Mike. :-)

Ricky's right....weekend meetings are better. Although the distance betweeen where I live and Norwich looks fairly small, for example, it will take me well over 2 hours to drive (nearer 3 if traffic is busy).

So why not post your own meeting for a weekend on the link above, and see what transpires?

Do come to the Halifax UK meet in early September (and you, Mike etc).....it's great fun, and you'll meet lots of VT-ers (not all from the UK).

Anything you post in any location will automatically appear in its region/county forum, in its country forum, in its continent forum and in the world forum.

One of the wonders of VT...maximum exposure for your questions! :-)

Travel Tips for Norwich

Another of my favourite places to eat

by TonyBagnall about Treehouse Vegetarian Restaurant

EDIT: Oh no, the treehouse has closed down! We are most upset, a great Norwich place that has been open for 20 years has gone :(

This is a great vegetarian cafe with excellent wholesome food and a menu that changes every day. Nice, friendly staff. Go for a snack size meal (costs about £6) because the main meal size (£8) is a portion big enough for a giant. Whatever size you go for there will be so many interesting flavours on your plate that your taste buds will be very happy indeed.

Even if you are a meat eater like me go to this place with an open mind and you will not be disappointed. This is more of a lunch venue than somewhere for the evening (though they do open sometimes in the evenings).

The cafe is run by a workers co-operative.

Please note that the Treehouse is sadly no more - it has closed down :( Everything I've had has been great and I've been quite a lot! This is hearty veggie and vegan food, not any of your nanby-panby goats cheese and rocket that seems to be served everwhere these days. You will leave feeling well fed and virtuously healthy. Although if you fancy being naughty they also serve organic cider, beer and wine.
