Cow Tower by Lena44u
Cow Tower is situated sitting on a sharp bend by the River Wensum along riverside walk in Norwich. Also located within sight of the cathedral, the ruined Cow Tower was built in 1398-9 and is a very rare example of a freestanding medieval artillery tower. This circular, detached brick tower once formed part of the city?s 14th Century defences and gets its name because it stands in a water meadow once known as Cowholme. Although looking almost complete the tower was badly damaged during Kett?s Rebellion in 1549.
