More about Holiday Inn Harrogate

Central location - Good hotel

by TripAdvisor Member 1977traveller

Overall, this was a good experience. We got a great deal on the hotel and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. We may have been a little disappointed if we had paid the standard rate but if there are offers on this hotel then I would definitely recommend it. The hotel is central, about five-ten mins walk from the shops and bars (which are plentiful!), the staff are helpful (if not the quickest) and the breakfast was just what was needed after a night out on the town! Some of the other reviews talk about the car park being tiny - it isn't the biggest, but we arrived at midday on the day we were checking in and there was more than enough space to park. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean hotel close to the centre of Harrogate.

Typical Holiday Inn

by TripAdvisor Member Dave_Burrows

It's not that this is a bad hotel it's just that it has not much character. It's typically Holiday Inn with the same furniture you see in every Inn arround the country. The hotel is connected to a convention centre so I think they're mainly aiming for business custom. Not too far away from the city centre.
Drop your bags off before you park the car as the car park is round the corner, down the hill.
Ask for a high floor for a better view.

Good location

Hotel was booked via a coach company weekend away trip so little choice on destination. Was expecting the worst having read last entry.
However, hotel was as you would expect from a chain hotel, one hotel room is very much like another. Our room was clean and well presented. The view from our window was over the local suburbs and rolling countryside beyond. Room maid was more than courteous when we asked for more coffee sachets. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, hot and appetising on both days. Lovely coffee machine offering more than just black coffee. I had pancakes (cooked to order) on the second morning - yummy! Staff cleared the tables promptly and were on hand for service. The lifts were slow on the Sunday morning, but that is to be expected as excellently situated close to Harrogate town centre and ideal for weekend away.
No complaints and would definitely stay there again.

Lovely staff but some housekeeping problems?

by TripAdvisor Member Sylvia5

Arrived at 7.30pm Friday evening. Receptionist was lovely. I'd asked for a nice room and she'd made sure I was on the 11th floor with wonderful views. However, the room was not ready. Bed was stripped and the used bedclothes were still in the room. The room had obviously been overlooked by the housekeeping side of things. Receptionist upgraded us to a suite as a result which made up for this but I was surprised that it had happened at all. Suite was excellent, clean and quiet. Evening meal was fine. Breakfast was disappointing for me. I like a continental breakfast, the chocolate croissants were red hot and hard. Fresh croissants were brought in but were placed cold under the heater display and didn't heat up by the time I'd finished my breakfast. There were fresh cooked meats laid out but no bread rolls. Husband was delighted with his fry-up. Were down a bit late for breakfast, around 10am, maybe would have done better if we'd gone down earlier. Felt the staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Just a shame about our initial impression, but pleased that they resolve problems appropriately, quickly and without fuss. Would definitely go again.
