A wedding day to remember
by TripAdvisor Member sqems
I had the most wonderful wedding day ever, and both my husband and myself feel this lies mainly with everyone at the Richmond Hill Hotel.
Firstly the hotel had been recently refurbished and looked wonderful. The staff made absolutely certain we were not to worry about anything. My wedding organiser (Lee) was great...we couldn't have asked for more.
The food was sensational - the amount of comments we have had from guests testifies to this.
Overal I cannot recommend this hotel enough...and anyone looking to get married, the christmas holidays is a magical time of year!

Dont know were to start really!! Decide to take my partner out for the evening and qwanted somewere to stay in the Richmond area, so it was easy to get up into london.
From the moment we checked in every member of staff qwe spoke to or asked some thing of was only to pleased to help. The room was superb: Bright, very clean, spacious with flat screen TV etc. The food at the Hotel was first class.
If you are looking to stay in the richmond area you will not go wrong with this hotel.
Ordinary

My wife and I stayed over on Saturday night. The room at the back of the hotel was clean and modern. However the bed was small and we had noise from some an air conditiioning system just outside the window. We tried to get a drink in the bar but it had been taken over by a wedding party who had also taken over the car park. There is just one lift which can accomodate only 4 people at a squeeze. The location is very good, close to restaurants and shops in Richmond but again I might try the Petersham hotel just down the hill towards the river.

Before you book... read this - what a terrible place it is! Richmond Hill itself a beautiful location, but once you enter those hotel doors - you'll wish you never did! the staff are clueless and rude, the hotel stairs has cellotape holding the carpet down, the walls are crumbling and when we entered our room, it wasn't just the coffee stains on the wall that put my off, but the fact that the room was around 35 degrees, small and something you'd accept if we were staying at an Ibis and not a so called 4 star hotel!! It is a joke really, that they can charge what they do and get away with it! their website is totally misleading! We tried to book into another hotel, but all were full at the time - so we had to stay a full week here, and I've never looked forward to going home so much!
Just don't book! save your money and book into a three star - (you may as well)
Nice - but were we lucky?

Stayed here for a couple of nights while attending a wedding. Our 'standard' room was clean and spacious with a great view out to the Thames and the air conditioning worked well. However, some of our friends had much smaller rooms with no real view. One couple had air conditioning that was so noisy that they couldn't use it (or open the windows because of the noise from a unit outside).
Dinner in the restaurant was superb - lovely food and good service . Service at breakfast was also good and there was plenty of choice but the standard of the cooked food was only average - I guess that's an inevitable consequence of a hot buffet rather than food cooked to order.
You should be aware that they are very inflexible about check-in times if you are thinking of arriving early.
The hotel is in a great location and there is a lovely daytime cafe in the park opposite the hotel.

Indeed it is called Force rather than Fall in these parts of England. Same word as the Swedish "fors" :)
If you're going back in two weeks you must know where you're going??? :) Hawes just by the falls is a fantastic base for lots in the area but sure, Richmond too. I hope you're going to Swaledale as well?
Btw there are more famous falls in Aysgarth in Wensleydale. Not as high but broad, and there are three of them. Those featured in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood film.
