When evening comes...
by toontraveller
This photo was taken in January when its not so warm but any time of year its nice to spend the early evening going for a stroll along the sea front or to the harbour to watch the waves come in and the world go by. Before you know it you'll have a beautifull sunset and a lovely image to take to bed.
Flambourough lighthouse
by Britannia2
Down the coast on Flamborough Head is a large white lighthouse that has limited opening in 2007. Quite a long climb to the top ( not possible for the elderly or disabled) there are good views over the area and out to sea. There is a mapping system that shows every vessel off the headland and a film show showing the history of lighthouses.
A minimum height restriction of 3'3" (1 meter) applies.
Prices in 2007 are £2.75 and concessions £1.75.
Open Wednesday to Sunday.
Donkeys and the beach
by Britannia2
Here is my son riding a donkey circa 1993 - an old photo that with the donkeys stands the test of time. The donkeys are part of Scarborough that will always be there. Their home seems to be somewhere in the Burniston Road area , right on the northern edge of town. Its a great sight to see the donkeys wending their way through the town to and from the beach.
Something for everyone in seaside Scarborough
by MartinSelway
"Intro"
We like Scarborough. Most years we get there once, and our favourite time of year is November, when we like to go with the family to the Bonfire Night celebrations.
Our particular favouites are the beach and Florio's Pizza - look at tips for further info.
"Beach Lift"
For those that have not visited Scarborough, the beach is below the Town at the bottom of the cliffs.
For those that want the quick way down (or up) there is the beach lift.
"The stairs"
... Alternatively, there is always the stairs!
