Church Ruins
by sandysmith
There is not much left of the original St Mary's church - originally built around 1150. It was partially destroyed by return fire from the Royalists in the castle, resulting in these ruins which used to be the choir and north trancept. These ruins can be seen just near the graveyard and the main church.
The Spa
by steventilly
Walk towards the Spa Complex. It's no longer an actual "Spa", these days it's more of an "old time" entertainment complex, hosting band shows, dances and cabaret. There's some lawned gardens behind (or above) it, then some woodland and above that some fine formal gardens.
SCARBOROUGH . WHERE I LIVE
by lozza55
scarborough is a wonderful place to live. the only problem with it is the council sometimes get so involved in the tourism side of scarborough they sometimes forget the needs of the people who actually live there.
however, scarborough is a beautiful place with many wonderful attractions.
scarborough town centre is a great place. at christmas there is an annual parade with santas sleigh for the children and real reindeers march through the town. there was a wonderful annual parade where local buisnesses competed for the best decorated float. it raised money for charity and was a lot of fun. unfortunatly the council decided it was a health and safety risk and banned it. another charity raising event is a local man who makes brilliant sand sculptures on the south beach. scarborough council also tried to ban this but did not suceeed. the minature railway is lovely and is now even better. kinderland is great for kids of all ages and is one of the best places in scarborough but is getting demolished for to build wooden holiday huts. this is partly the councils doing, ( wat a surprise. )
scarborough has a lot to offer and needs someone who can turn its potential into a reality.
