My wife booked this over the internet and upgraded to a superior double room, which appeared in the pictures on the internet site www.booking. Com. This was valued at £139.50 which is average pricing for this typical style room. This was for 2 night stay Friday / Saturday. On arrival we were greeted by a musty smell in the main reception area, the décor was all new and pristine and very well appointed only thing was it was 10 years out of date. Like a well presented aunty that smells of digestive biscuits you know what I mean. It’s says on the site you will receive a warm welcome from both Andrew and Julie, Andrew was as warm as needed to be but Julie had either lost a lot of weight or Julie just did not exist as this person was never seen, shame as we were looking forward to receiving all the rules and regulations from her such as you are not allowed alcohol in your room or food of any kind. Strange for a hotel!! (Never mind not the end of the world)
We were taken to our room the superior room on the top floor all levels leading up to our room was immaculate but the musty smell still lingered throughout. We reached the room and were shown the room which again was immaculate and well presented and really warm in the small room. As we viewed the room my wife explained that this was not the room that appeared in the add for me this was misrepresentation of the room. I questioned this with the owner Andrew explained that this was an issue with guests as all the rooms where of a different appearance on the internet site but this room we had was a superior room. Give Andrew his due at least he attempted to appease me in this matter.
We had a great night out in Scarbourgh and had pleasant restful sleep in our superior room? Next morning we both woke in a very cold room no central heating at all in the room. We came down stairs for breakfast. Again no heating anywhere in the Hotel (god it was cold) we ordered breakfast which was expertly taken very efficient and friendly staff. We both had full English breakfast this comprised of bacon, egg, boiled mushrooms, boiled tomato, and sausage and the sausage was just on the turn and both my wife and I both left most of this very poor but great service and friendly.
We spent another great day out came back to hotel at 16.30 and the central heating was still not on. This came on at 17.30 YIPPY warmth at last. We rested in room then showered we decided to use the superior rooms terry toweling luxurious bathrobes, this was so funny as the robes where to fit an six stone Japanese geisha girl not two 6 foot adults . This was so funny but cold round your naughty bits as we were unable to close the robes.
Next day again breakfast again great service but poor quality plus no heating again even though it was very cold and raining outside. left at 9.00am even though we could have stayed in the superior room till 11.00am
