There are 199 steps up to the Abbey, but it's not a difficult walk and there are benches on the way. Even if you don't want to go into the church or the Abbey, it is worth the climb for the great views across the harbour.Fishing villages often have houses painted pretty colours, apparently this was so the sailors could recognise their cottages from a distance as they sailed back into the harbour.
