Special hotel in the very centre of York
by james1983 about Four High Petergate Hotel
I recently stayed in this York hotel and found it to be very special indeed. The hotel is in a stunning old town house which is right next to a section of the city walls and Bootham Bar. Consequently it is very centrally situated and all the major attractions are within easy walking distance. The hotel actually only has about a dozen rooms but, being so small, you get a really personal level of service. Being an old building, our room was reasonably small, but was exceptionally comfortable. We also ate in the hotel's restaurant and found the food to be excellent.
Both hotel and restaurant are not cheap, but are undoubtedly very luxurious. It would be the perfect location for a romantic break. Historical setting, beautiful building, very friendly staff.

Luxury restaurant/hotel in York?
by Kaysta
Hello,
I've decided to celebrate my 21st birthday in York. I live in Leeds, so i know York pretty well, but haven't dined out on an evening. So as a treat, i'd like to have quality food in luxury/romantic setting. I'd appreciate it if you could recommend me a place to eat.
Thank you,
Kay :)

For a luxury restaurant in York try Harvilles in Fossgate. We often have lunch there and the food is excellent. We haven't dined there in the evening and there is a more extensive menu for the evening. The decor of the place is really well executed asrt deco and the staff are courteous and friendly. Everything is kept really clean and the toilets are a joy to use, in fact I would say using the toilets is a must do experience as they are so well maintained and clean.

I agree that Harvilles is a good restaurant and would particularly recommend their steaks.
Another alternative is a bistro called Four High Petergate. The food there is not cheap, but is very high quality. It would be suitable for a special occasion. They also do accommodation, so you could feasibly stay there as well. http://www.fourhighpetergate.co.uk
Incidentally, you can find details of harvilles at: http://www.harvilles.co.uk
