The outside of the building had a great display of hanging baskets and window boxes and as you go through the house there are more fresh flowers.
The reception area is pannelled and looks better in real life than on their photos, they have a drinks licence and for once we could enjoy a drink in the hotel without paying a huge premium. They are completely non-smoking in the building so I had to sit outside under the loggia to enjoy a smoke, but Richard turned on the patio heater so at least it was warm.
We never tried the food in the hotel as there are restaurants everywhere, but I saw some of the food coming out of the kitchen and it looked very good, but a bit Yorkshire (huge portions). All food is served in the conseratory, which is a modern bistro style.
Our room was a four poster with views over the roof tops toward the Minster and was very romantic, the second night Richard arranged Champagne and Chocolates for the room.
We could walk into town in about 5 minutes meaning that I could leave my car in their car park all weekend and not even have to look at it until Sunday morning.
I was very surprised by what I found in Warrens, firstly it is a B&B but feels more like a friendly hotel, I was amazed at how well presented the building is on the inside as it looks quite small from the outside. We paid about £8 more than we normally do when staying in B&B's and it was worth every penny. We will be back again.
Richard and Jenny used to travel for years until they bought Warrens and say that they have a wish list of all the things they wanted and are putting them in here. Warrens is a B&B but has trouser presses, a bar, serves hot and cold meals, private car park - which is free and offers internet and email access. In the reception area there is even a wireless lan to connect to your laptop... and this is a B&B and what these two people dont know about York is not worth knowing - trust me if you want to know anything about York just ask them.
