More about Redfoot Lea Bed and Breakfast
A Perfect Place
We stayed at Redfoot Lea for 2 nights and we thought the place was absolutely perfect. The rooms where immaculate with lots of nice little touches which make all the difference, the rest of the house was immaculate too and a pleasure to stay in. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it.. We where made to feel very welcome and the owners could not have been any more pleasant or helpful. We would recommend it to any body and we will definitely stay here again if we go back to Alnwick.
This is on a par with 5* accommodation. Bedroom had all the facilities necessary including bathrobes, TV, DVD playrer and books. Even the little touches like two wine glasses and a corkscrew. You will also find a box of things you may have forgot to pack. The breakfasts were excellent do try the scrambled egg especially with smoked salmon. Phylli certainly goes the extra mile, nothing is too much trouble.
Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said, except to thank Philly and her family for a most wonderful 3 day stay. We were welcomed into their beautiful home and made to feel part of the family. We have never felt so comfortable in a hotel/B&B before. Philly's breakfasts are fantastic. You must try her "Cranberry Juice!!" (Philly will explain!). Thank you so much and we will definitely be back.
Second to None
We stayed two nights. Finding the location was simple and there was ample parking. Philippa Bell's hospitality, attention to detail and warm personality were a genuine delight. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, uncluttered and very comfortable. The breakfasts were outstanding - from the freshly squeezed orange juice to the selection of top quality local ingredients whenever possible. All of the hostess's "little touches" were especially thoughtful and charming.
Great room - especially the little lamps that turned on and off when you touched them (we're going to get some ourselves!).
We stayed here for 2 nights and walked in to the smell of fresh flowers. Our room was lovely and clean - huge bed, lovely chocolates and cakes.
The breakfast was great too - we would agree with all of the earlier reviews about this. Especially liked the fresh fruit, museli and yoghurt.
Philly was genuinely friendly and a great host. We had high expectations from the earlier reviews and were not disappointed. We would definitely recommend the b&b to others and hope to be back again ourselves in the future.
What can I say that’s not already been said? Redfoot Lea has to be the best B&B that we have ever visited. A sumptuous, spotlessly clean bedroom/ensuite, a dining room and lounge straight out of Ideal Home, a breakfast that would shame many a top hotel and a host who ensured our every need was met with patience and a cheery smile.
Our room was provided with all the usual necessities, but it’s the thoughtful extras that made our stay so memorable, such as the home made cake awaiting us after a long day sight seeing and the special “night cap” that was left in our room which went down really well!! Incidentally when we retuned to our room at night, the bedding had been turned back, the bedside lights turned on and the Roman Blinds closed, that gave a warm and cosy welcome. Now that’s class!
Redfoot Lea’s location was perfect for exploring Northumberland, being on the A1 and only 3 to 4 minutes from Alnwick by car.
If you’re considering visiting Northumberland then I suggest that you book well in advance because you’ll miss the chance to stay at one of best B&B’s in the country.
Redfoot Lea sets a standard that all other establishments should aspire to.
Fantastic barely describes this wonderful place
From the minute we arrived we felt welcome and at home. The place is beautiful and Philly (our host) is a lovely lady. The room we had, had a double bed which was so comfortable you could quite happily stay there all day!! Breakfast was a pleasure with freshly squeezed orange, cereal, porridge, fruit, yoghurt, toast, tea or coffee. Then came the big boy!! eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, fried bread, mushrooms, tomatoes phew...!!!. All local and possitively delicious. Don't forget the kippers, they were very tasty too.
Everything you need to know Philly will be only too glad to assist from local places to visit like Etal and Ford, the pub there is gorgeous, to where to eat in the evening.
When you get back in the evening you can sit in the very comfortable lounge by the log fire when it's cold, and when it's time for bed you will find the bedside lights on and the bed turned down ready. You might even indulge in a slice of delicious homemade cake which has been left on a tray by the bed.
Everything is fantastic and I will definately recommend Redfoot to everyone.
Just one more thing, look out for Hamish, he's adorable and loves his tummy tickled!!
Redfoot Lea is a rare find- good value for money and classy with a very warm welcome from the hosts Philly and Andrew Bell. We stayed there for 3 nights in a beautifully clean and modern room with fresh cake each day and Philly turns down the bed, draws the curtains and puts the lights on for your return each evening! It's the little touches that count.

As a previous review has said, what more can I say except to reiterate how truly wonderful Redfoot Lea was!
Philly was a fantastic host, friendly and happy to help with requests for taxi and restaurant numbers and reccommmendations.
The room itself (we had the double) was gorgeous and I don't know what the secret of that bed is but it is out of this world comfortable! My favourite brand of toiletries and the home made cakes were lovely touches!
The proximity to Alnwick and the rest of Northumberland made it an ideal base for touring around, which we didnt do alot of as were attending a wedding but hope to return and explore further in the future and we'll definitely be going back to Redfoot Lea!
My husband and I are fans of luxury holidays in exotic climes but our experience here has encouraged us to stay closer to home for our next break!
I have just returned from a four night stay at Redfoot Lea and can only say what a delight it really has been. Philippa is an amazing host and really makes you feel at home. Your day starts with a delicious full english breakfast, including fresh fruit or my hubby's favourite 'percy porkers' and whilst your gone your room is cleaned and believe me you will not find a cleaner room anywhere! Then when you return you will find the most delicious cake you have ever tasted waiting for you. Redfoot Lea is situated just outside the town centre but don't let that put you off, the taxi firms are good, friendly and cheap - £3 will get you into town and there are some lovely restaurants - The Art House is a must. Back to Refoot Lea after your meal and you will find that your room is ready for your return, your bed turned down and bedside lamps on - you won't get this treatment anywhere it really is a lovely touch. You won't find a better bed & breakfast anywhere, its simply perfect.
