More about West Acre House
A gem in Alnwick
The guest house is outstanding in every area as is the welcome from Jeannette and Bruce. The rooms are scrupulously clean.
It is in a quiet area of Alnwick within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and attractions. We will definitely return.

A jewel in the Alnwick crown
If you want a class B & B then look no further than West Acre House Northumberland. Wonderful hosts, lovely rooms, and delicious breakfast. A place to revisit in the future. Cannot recommend more highly.
Probably the Best
Probably one of the best places we have stayed in and we could highly recommend staying here.
West Acres is a large house, built in the early 1900's, with a lovely large private garden and is situated a few minutes drive or about 15 minutes walk from Alnwick centre. It is very comfortably furnished with lots of period details. It is run by Bruce and Jeanette who are extremely welcoming and friendly, very people orientated and it is clear that they enjoy having guests to stay and that nothing is too much trouble. When we arrived we received a warm welcome from Jeanette who brought us a fresh pot of tea with cakes and biscuits which was served in the lovely guest garden room, overlooking the lovely secluded lawns and flower borders. There was ample car parking for guests in the grounds.
There are four bedrooms in total, each individualy styled to a very high standard with modern ensuite facilities and very comfy beds. The bedrooms opened out onto a large spacious landing where there was a large selection of books, DVD's and tourist information for your use. Everything was spotlessly clean and immacculate with a lot of thought and attention to detail as to what guests might need during their stay. In the room there was fresh fruit, a good selection of tea and coffee, biscuits and snacks and even a decanter of sherry all of which were replenished regularly. Items you might need such as a needle and thread, shoe polish, shampoos and lots more were available in your room. All rooms had flat screen TV's and DVD player.
There was a wide choice available at breakfast including fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, different cereals, toast, preserves and a variety of different combinations of cooked breakfasts to your choice, ordered on a tick list the previous evening.
We booked on the late availability website link from West Acres own web site which is updated daily by Bruce. Their website is extremely well designed picturing all the individual bedroom interiors very accurately and we were certainly not disappointed with ours.
We highly recommend West Acres and think it would be particularly suitable for couples wanting a comfortable relaxing break in lovely surroundings.
A must to return to....
Bruce & Jeannette Hewison are welcoming, professional but friendly hosts with an excellent local knowledge. The guest house was superior to many hotels at which we have stayed offering spacious comfortable accommodation. The area has a vast amount to see in both the countryside and towns with fabulous walks and beaches. The only weak point was the dining experience outside the guest house with the exception of The Ship Inn at Low Newton by the Sea. Follow lunch and their own brew with a walk along the outstanding beach - perfect. We are looking forward to a return visit.
Beautiful West Acre House
After a Monday wedding at Langley Castle near Hexham we journeyed over to Alnwick to spend the rest of our honeymoon week at West Acre House. What a lovely place! After a great welcome from Bruce with complimentary tea and cinnamon toast, we were show to the Oriental Room which was large, airy, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Complimentary toiletries were available in the bathroom together with complimentary hula hoops and sherry in the room, which was replenished during the week! Tea and Coffee making facilities were also available. We liked the idea of leaving our breakfast order (including how strong would we like our coffee) on the landing for the next day, allowing Bruce and Jeanette to have this fresh and ready for us the next morning. The food itself was very good quality, juice, fresh fruit, cereals, cooked breakfast and toast. Our room had a TV and DVD player and there was a good selection of books and DVDs on the landing for guest use. The room also contained folders with good sources of local information. Jeanette and Bruce themselves were extremely, pleasant and helpful. Obviously, at a 5 star rating, this wasn't the cheapest B&B we'd stayed in but it was definitely worth the money and after the hectic run up to our wedding we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our relaxing stay. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone (although I think it's more a couples place than for families). If we're ever wanting to visit that region of the country again, I certainly return there.
Best Place Ever!
I have to honestly say that this is the best place I've ever stayed anywhere in the UK!
The owners can't do enough for you but aren't all over you in a creepy sort of way, if you know what I mean! The rooms, atmosphere, food, well, just everything really, can't be faulted!
I would not hesitate to recommend West Acres House to anyone wanting a fantastic place to stay in beautiful surroundings

Fabulous rooms, lovely people.
West Acre House in Alnwick is quite simply one of the best guest houses we have ever stayed in. The rooms were very comfortable and the welcome warm. We intend to return in the near future. You certainly won't be disappointed
Gold Star Experience
This was the third time we have stayed with Bruce and Jeannette at West Acre House. This guest house is set in extensive gardens which are beautiful and peaceful. The accommodation includes four bedrooms, dining room and guest lounge. The house retains its period features and all the rooms are en-suite, spacious and tastefully furnished. Each room has a large flat screen TV and DVD player and there is a wide range of DVDs from which to choose. There are many complimentary items and facilities, reflecting the hosts’ attention to detail, which make your stay very comfortable. The lounge is a place to relax and read (there is a selection of books to borrow), play board games or enjoy conversation with other guests and is the place where Bruce and Jeannette welcome their guests with tea and biscuits. The breakfast menu has a wide selection of cooked meals which are freshly prepared, together with fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, fruits juice, preserves/honey etc. You will not have to worry about lunch after enjoying such a good breakfast. If you are walking, as we were, or just visiting the area Bruce and Jeannette have the knowledge and experience to give you plenty of ideas.
Overall this is a top class Guest House and is, in our opinion, the place to stay if visiting the North East. It is important to book early due to the popularity of West Acre House, so we have already booked our next visit.
A perfectly luxurious and relaxing stay!
We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and couldn't have made a better choice for what we wanted. We were welcomed with tea and cakes, and a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. Our room was spotless, spacious, luxurious and extremely comfortable with a large modern bathroom. We even had a little hall area where we could make our teas and coffees and keep our shoes etc.
Breakfast was a sociable event with a wide choice of food that you select the day before and is freshly cooked for the time you ask for.
The hosts are very helpful and offer as much advice on the local area, places to eat etc as you want.
There is a beautiful and very large garden that you can wander round or relax in if the weather is good.
The location is very quiet and is within walking distance of the centre of Alnwick. For the price we felt this offered excellent value for money and would much rather have stayed here than a larger characterless hotel.
A perfect place to stay if you are looking for a bit of relaxation and luxury!
We had an extremely enjoyable week here in July. The house is in a lovely setting and the accommodation is superb, as are the breakfasts. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful and have given a great deal of thought to providing those extra touches that make your stay more enjoyable, It is ideally situated for exploring Alnwick and trying the many restaurants there.
