Bamburgh Castle Inn: Great harbour views
I believe it used to be a hotel but has morphed into an inn, with a large bar/restaurant. The hotel sits on the edge of the harbour and commands excellent views. You can see the Farne Islands on a good day. There's a nice beer garden out front as well.
We booked over the phone and prepaid, they don't do online booking though you can check online for prices and availability. They do bed and breakfast and also have a dinner, bed and breakfast rate. Most of the rooms are on the upper two floors but they do have a few on the ground floor fitted up for wheelchair users. Our room had a queen size bed (actually two singles put together) with a bath tub and hand held shower, our companion had a king size bed (again, two singles together) and a shower stall. We all found our rooms comfortable though a bit warm. The windows open but there wasn't any screens over ours.
We ate in the hotel both nights though there's a nice old pub across the road. it was booked up in the evening when we went in to try so that sent us back to the hotel dining room the first night and we liked it well enough so we ate there again on our other night. The food is really good, and has both pub type food and some nice entrees as well as yummy desserts.
They have single rooms up to a family room that sleeps 5. There is no lift in the hotel and your room will likely be up at least one floor. There are also places along the corridor with a few steps so keep that in mind if you have a heavy suitcase. It's an older building so the floors squeak and creak a bit. There's a parking lot in back but it fills up quickly. I believe there's a public parking lot nearby if need be.
Breakfast is included and is a hot and cold buffet with sausages, eggs, (fried and scrambled), bacon, beans, tomato, cereals, toast and a bit of fruit. Lots of coffee and tea. Didn't see any juice but I wasn't really looking.
Prices about 100 pounds a night for a double room, slightly less for no sea view.

The Bamburgh Castle Hotel: Northumbria's finest Views
This hotel must have the finest views of any on this coastline.
We sat at breakfast, and evening meal with a perfect view of the harbour and the Farne Islands.
The bar and restaurant are very smart with nice oak panelling and chesterfields to relax in after your meal, speaking of which the food was excellent, not the largest of menu choices, but just the right amount to work through, with the most delicious Creme Brulee ive ever had!! The wine list was very varied with a lot of choice to suit all budgets we did splurge on our last night.
Our room had a good view over the harbour too, and was a good size (although this was a family room we had booked so possibly others are smaller)
The most impressive aspect of this hotel though by far was the staff, the most friendly unpretentious staff weve ever encountered in a 3 star hotel, ready to hand with local info when we needed it and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them, having seen them dealing with some very difficult guests on our 1st night. All staff seemed very hands on which no doubt contributes to the general good feeling.
We asked to go on the mailing list as we definatley want to return, we were told that the hotel does some really good offers out of season one we couldnt believe was 4 nights diner, bed and breakfast for only 129 pounds per person
Without a doubt the outstanding characteristics were the views and service
