An overnight stay here to attend a wedding.
Great place to hold such an event, everything from the ceremony to the breakfast next morning was pretty much perfect!
Comfortable room for us, difficult to find after a long day celebrating! and all food throughout our stay very good too, reasonable price.
Own transport definately needed it's set in a country park a few miles from central Nottingham.
Enjoyed our time here immensely.

I'm travelling to Notts with my GF (gorgeous!!) from Switzerland on 19&20. Can anybody recommend a smooth place to hang out?
There's a pub there called "Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem". Supposedly the oldest pub in the UK. It's pretty cool.
Hi, there are lots and lots of bars and clubs in Notts city centre but like any other big city a little caution is required. The place is really busy especially at the week-ends. The last time that I was there we went to a Yate's Wine Lodge right in the middle of town. Busy, lively place and worth a visit to start the night off.
Argh, Yates!! Well ok if your gorgeous girlfriend is a slapper!! It's where all the Stella drinkers go, perhaps the place is ok early evening but later on it's a messy place.
If you want to show her an old pub opposite to Yates there's the Bell Inn, it's got lots of small rooms, good beer and sometimes live jazz. Down the ally by the side there there's the Malt Cross which is in an old tiny theatre and is quite trendy with a dj at weekends.
You wouldn't go wrong if you went to the Hockley area or the Lace Market, the areas do get very busy, but if you don't like one place, virtually next door there'll be another. The Pitcher and Piano is interesting, only because it used to be a large church and still has all the stained glass, there's a few bars opposite there, but they change hands all the time.
In Hockley there's a Pit and Pendulum, a bit of a themed pub, kind of Gothic but it's fun to look around, try a 7 deadly sin cocktail, try to find the toilets.
There's the usual Lloyds and Weatherspoons hanging around.
The Broadway cinema has a good bar, there's usually projections on the walls and close-by there there's the Wax Bar, which is very small and sometimes manages to fit live bands in too.
There's more pubs sprung up near the castle, so if you wanted to see the Old Trip to Jerusalem there's quite a few other bars around there too.
Ooh I've thought of some more....
Around the canal there's a few too, early evenings they're nice as you can sit outside by the canal, later at night they turn a bit messy.
There's also a Warner Brothers complex in town which has a lot of bars around the bottom of it too, I've not been there for a while though, the club there The Works was terrible.
Can you tell I spent three years of 'studying' here? :-)

Generally, Nottingham is famous for Robin Hood. You can visit the castle. I did not put this as a must-see activity becos there are much better castles to see (eg. Warwick castle, Windsor, Edinburgh, etc to name a few). The castle is pretty small.
Highfields park is a couple of miles out of the city centre, but has been well kept by the city council.
The view across the lake from the main entrance off University Boulevard (opposite the Tennis centre) is very impressive.
You will also find four croquet courts here where top matches, including test matches (internationals) are played. They are a friendly crowd (i've played there several times) and often willing to show people the basics if possible.
The Theatre Royal is situated near to the Corner House in the centre of Nottingham. It has shows on all year round including a pantomime in the winter (I saw Keith Harris and Orville in panto many, many years ago!). It hosts shows of all genres including drama, dance, ballet etc. It's really nice inside with lots of attention to detail in the actual theatre and most seats give a good view of the stage. I once had 'student standby' tickets which are right at the top and went to see Trainspotting - I could see everything I needed to and could hear all the dialogue even though it felt like I was up in the rafters!
Avoid the queues at the bar at the interval and pre-order your drinks (but don't forget the toilet queues are equally as large!) Any dress code to suit yourself. There are plenty of people who dress up to the nines - recently there were Men in black tie and women in evening gowns mingling with people in jeans and a t-shirt. Whatever you fancy!
Wagamama is part of a nationwide chain of restaurants. It has one of the healthiest menus in Nottingham, with the most popular dish being ramen or Japanese noodles. The restaurant has a minimalist design, with lots of light and very little in the way of decoration. You can either sit in a stool or on a communal bench.
This is definitely the best place to eat noodles and drink sake in Nottingham. I like this place a lot. The Wagamama Ramen for £7.80 is a good introduction to this restaurant's food. Don't leave without trying one of their innovative desserts, like the white chocolate and ginger cheesecake or the tamarind and chili pavlova.
The Ice Arena is fantastic, we went here to see Justin Timberlake on 19th May 2007. It was the most amazing show i have ever been to. He was fantastic live and was one of the most sold out tours of the UK.
Justin performed in the middle of the arena, which meant the stage was right in the centre of the floor. This was the first time this set up has been used at the arena creating the ultimate 360 degree viewing experience. Every seat in the house was a great seat giving everyone a fantastic up close and personal view of the man himself.
