Nottingham Castle has a reasonable art gallery within it and super views! The Museum of Nottingham Life is very good - the entrance ticket to either also includes entrance to the other, if you see what I mean. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a very old pub - not been there (will be able to tell you what it's like in a few weeks' time) but it has a website. There's a pubby/restauranty sort of place diagonally across from the Royal Concert Hall - can't remember what it is called but if you stand outside the Concert Hall, you will see it down the hill to you right - reasonable prices, not much atmosphere. There are any number of places on Forman Street (again, leads from Concert Hall) - Puncinello's does a good pre-theatre meal. Also Le Bistro Pierre. The Cast Restaurant at the Nottingham Playhouse also serves palatable food and does a good pre-theatre meal. Also, the Broadway Theatre does a reasonable meal and you can buy a cinema ticket plus meal for a reduced price. All these places have websites.

Travel Tips for Nottingham

Nottingham Lace

by iwys

Nottingham's lace industry has influenced the city in many positive ways. It brought prosperity to Nottingham and many of its great buildings were funded by money it brought in.The Lace Market area, where the lace factories were, is now one of the most interesting areas to wander around.

The City Ground

by iwys

The City Ground is the home of Nottingham Forest Football Club, who were European Champions twice. I have seen some very good games here, including Forest's last European run, when they beat Auxerre and Lyon before losing spectacularly to a Jurgen Klinsmann inspired Bayern Munich side. This was also one of the stadiums which hosted the 1996 European Championships, and I saw Turkey play Croatia here, when there were 10,000 Turkish fans inside the stadium. If you are interested in the history of European football, the City Ground has seen a lot of it!

The stadium's capacity is 30,602. Adult tickets for a Nottingham Forest league game on matchdays cost £22-26. There is a £2 discount if you buy your ticket in advance.

Chino Latino

by jo104 about Chino Latino

Let me just warn you about this hot trendy night spot it is very happening & fairly pricey and I did find it hard to tear myself away from the champagne cocktails. They serve pan-asian food in the restuarant. We sat at the bar & I think I was just gazing into the eyes of our barman a very talented young man.

Quality pub grub

by bonio about Kean's Head (Revisited)

Onw of the excellent Castle Rock (a local brewery) pubs, always a good pint in their pubs and here very good food too.
A quiet Monday afternoon visit for us, good selection of ales for me and a kriek for Mrs B, both happy there then!
Vegetarian antipasto for herself and ploughmans lunch for me, both nicely prepared and presented and extremely tasty.
Well worth a visit.

The World's Smallest Cinema

by Tony.

Did you know the world's smallest cinema was in Nottingham?

For that Guiness Book of Records experience go and see a film at the Screen Room.

Given the (obvious) limited numbers, it is worth reserving tickets in advance.
