Nottingham Nights

by DUNK67

Apparently Nottingham is a great place to go for a night out , especially if you are male as there are a lot more women than men. Whatever you want but smart is probably best for most nightclubs.

Brazilian food

by iwys about Las Iguanas

Las Iguanas is a Latin American restaurant, with a strong emphasis on Brazilian dishes. It is part of a chain which has other branches in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester and Sheffield. As well as the food, there is Latin American music and drinks, including Cachaca cocktails and Brahma Brazilian beer.

It finished Runner-up in the Best Newcomer category of the 2005 Nottingham Restaurant Awards. There are tapas until 6.30pm at £4 per dish. Main courses, at night, are mostly in the £9-13 price range. I ate Moqueca, a Brazilian curry with saffron rice, which cost £9.50. It was good. If you are interested, take a look at their web site, which has full menus and lots of other info.

~ Goose Fair ~

by Heavens-Mirror

Nottingham Goose Fair: one of Europe's largest travelling fairs, with more than 150 rides and 450 games and exhibitions to thrill and amuse you.

Join half a million others at Nottingham's world famous fun fair now in its 711th year! The atmosphere is fantastic! with over 450 attractions including white knuckle rides, family rides children's rides, games stalls, sideshows, a crafts marque, market stalls, and food stands selling everything from traditional mushy peas to vegetarian and ethnic food.

I really love going to Goose Fair every year, its kind of like a local thing that we all do who live in Nottingham and mushy peas is a must after a cold night on the fair. Anyone visiting Nottingham during Goose Fair must try it out... as its fabulous and well worth the visit.

It is on from 5th October to 8th October every year.

Nottingham Castle - Eastern Frontage

by amsterdam_vallon

The impressive eastern frontage preserves much of the original design. It reflects the taste of the first Duke for the Italian and Flemish styles of architecture he had seen whilst in exile during the Civil War. He died during the building of his mansion, which his son Henry completed in 1679.

In 1874 Nottingham Corporation leased the site. The Nottingham architect Thomas Chambers Hine was commissioned to convert the ruins of the burnt out mansion into the first municipal art museum outside of London. He restored the eastern facade as it was in the 17th century. However, in order to make a parade ground for the Robin Hood Rifles, he did not replace the external staircase that had been removed in 1861. Hine created a new interior with two floors instead ot the original three.
