Banbury is probably the furthest point you can get from the sea anywhere in this country but I just love the sea!
Its worth a visit to see the Banbury Cross (from the nursery rhyme) and the new shopping centre is pretty good. Apart from that, I wouldn't recommend you make a special trip here but if you're passing junction 10 of the M40 and need to stop off, its as good a place as any to spend an hour or so - we certainly have our share of coffee shops. If you're passing at breakfast time however, that's a different story - you must visit Paw Paw (the rather strange concept of traditional English fry-up and authentic Chinese fair all under one roof! If you time if just right - about 12pm - you can have your English breakfast (which is superb!) followed by the best Cantonese food in town for pudding! Ok, so I'm a Paw Paw junkie, I'll admit it!
If you want to visit somewhere more historical, visit Ye Olde Reindeer public house in Parsons Street where Oliver Cromwell held court during the Civil War back in in the 1600 somethings..... (was never any good at history!). You can see the amazing Globe Room which was actually moved from its original location to the Reindeer. A wonderful, olde worlde pub.
