The Highway Hotel
On our first visit to Burford we stayed for one night at The Highway Hotel, which is conveniently located on the main street. More B&B or guest house than hotel, The Highway is the oldest hotel in Burford, and is housed in a quirky building set over a couple of levels.
We were allocated the room on the top floor, which had a private bathroom just across the hall. The room was cosily decorated in that old-English style that I wouldn't choose myself, but is perfect for a place like this. The bathroom was ok, but I wasn't impressed with the lack of a proper shower attachment over the bath - I am not a bath person!
Unique Quality: The owners were friendly, and breakfast the next morning was good. It is served in the dining room to the rear of the hotel and appeared to be open to non-hotel guests as well.
