Nice people, but mediocre room

We usually prefer B & Bs and smaller inns when traveling rather than larger hotels and modern places. Character and local flavor are what we prefer. That comes with some risk, because you don't have the known standard like with chains and well known hotels. We were drawn, therefore, to the Old Post Office, with its history, central location and old construction.

We found the receptionist and other personnel friendly and helpful, but unfortunately the accomodations somewhat short of our expectations. Even though the price of a room was in the budget range, the furnishings and comfort were not all that great. Although there was a bathtub, there wasn't a shower. The bed was uncomfortable and leaned to one side (you can probably excuse the lean due to the ancient and uneven floors). Because of the restaurant and pub downstairs, we heard noise later than we would have liked. Perhaps these issues could have been rectified if we had a different room, but when we were there it was full.

Unique Quality: Despite the issues described above, if you like to stay in an historic building and be in the centre, this does provide that.
