A Surprise for a Vegetarian!

The Mason's Arms Pub, about a mile from Frome (Somerset) centre city, near the Sainsbury's, is a surprise for the vegetarian. Besides the tasty and really healthy portions of fish and chips (the fish is bigger than the plate) and the other excellent pub fare, the chef at Mason's Arms really caters to the vegetarian. No frozen veggie patties here! The stilton soup is to die for -- we've gone back three days in a row for it --but the evening main dishes are the real draw. The chef makes a massive vegetarian mushroom strudel that is amazing. And, most interesting of all - there's an aviary out back where you can talk to the budgies and they coo back! The Arms is as yet undiscovered by the tourists, but a well-known haunt for the locals. Not cheap, but not expensive either. Reservations needed on weekends.
