At the heart of it all

There's one thing that makes you feel right at home in a foreign hotel. Someone speaking your very own language. How good is that. On top of which, being a great Aussie bloke, he even helped us up with our luggage and didn't hang around for a tip. That's what you expect downunder and it was so good to get a bit of old fashioned service here.
I'm still amazed that he left Brisbane and ended up in Wells. I would have expected London (where he had done some work) or Brighton or Cornwall. Anyhow, to each his own.
The room was spacious enough with views over the long-evolved carpark that, trust me, is a huge advantage if you plan to visit Wells as a tourist.
The motel is right across the road from the Cathedral and right in the middle of the old streets so it has those three things going for it - position, position, position.
Breakfast was served in a lovely mediaeval-styled banqueting room and the main waitress has obviously been doing the job since she was just out of nappies, so efficient was she.

Unique Quality: This is a real rabbit warren of a place. It's so evident that the building has been extended multiple times as you drag your bags up and down stairs without actually leaving the floor you started on. A turn here, a right hand bend there; the miracle was that, after I went out, I actually found the room again!

A: "Once you're in that area, you would be close enough to visit the charming Cotswolds or 'mysterious' Stonehenge, as well. It's a lovely part of England!"
