Considering the Ibis Sheffield in Sheffield?

Arty stuff for regeneration by sourbugger
It would seems that any Northern town believes that one sure-fire way to aid regeneration is to build a stonking new Art Gallery. Newcastle has it's Baltic Mill, Birmingham it's ICON, Mancester it's Lowry, Liverpool it's Tate. Liverpool also will have the European year of culture, and it may well spark the kind of change that the same event had in Glasgow some years back.
Sheffeild's version is the Millenium Galleries are all four of them free and thankfully central. Situated between the Railway station and the central square they are connected together by a 'Winter gardens'. You would more normally expect to find a Winter gardens in some faing seaside resort, but this modern interpretation of the idea is impressive. The glass arched structure is filled with sub-tropical plants that would last about 14 seconds outside in the real Yorkshire climate.
