Red Triangle

The first registry office in Britain was opened on 1st January 1875. On the eve of the New Year an employee from Bass spends his night sleeping in the queue to be the first to get Britain's trademark. The famous red triangle was the first in the history of Britain.

St Mary & St Modwen

A local businessman built the church in 1879, but only as a bare structure and in 1897 it was completed with its tower. The church is built in the Gothic Style, red brick with a pitched roof which was originally clad with red tiles. These tiles were replaced with slates in 1923.
