Well I am currently residing here in grey Stafford at the University studying Computer Games Design.
I have lived here for about 5 months, and it is a very pleasnt town. It's a little grey n windy for the best part (that said, I've yet to spend summer here...)
The town itself has a good history and a nice little museum to go learn it in! St Mary's church is really very beautiful and I would recommend it to tourists. As for places to eat, just avoid Weatherspoons as it's dirty, sticky and foul!
Pricing for food and drink in the area is very reasonable and so is accomodation. It's within good driving distance of Birmingham and Stoke for days out (though Stoke is a little grim...)
