More about Quality Hotel Stoke

My family were well looked after!

by TripAdvisor Member swampybasil

Having stayed at this hotel for business and having posted reports on here before, I thought it only right to support those comments with an honest review of our stay at the Quality Hotel Stoke last week end.
We decided to stay because we were visiting Alton Towers which is about half hour drive away.
We were greeted at check in with kids packs, which I thought was a great touch.
The room was spacious and had everything we needed, dinner was superb and the kids menu healthy.
The Leisure Club staff were just great with our nine year old.
Unfortunately the day we choose to go to Alton Towers, it was grey, but that's not the hotels fault!
Well Done Quality Hotel.................you looked after my needs as a business visitor and now as a Tourist!
I think this hotel is value for money and great for visting Alton Towers!..................def reccommended!

Little going for it

by TripAdvisor Member southerners

We have literally just returned from a 2 day break to this hotel, having travelled from the South-East to take two 9 year olds to Alton Towers for a birthday treat. The standard of this hotel and attitudes of the staff was very disappointing. In fairness it started of well, with a warm welcome from the receptionist (she later doubled-up as a waitress for our evening meal) The hotel is very dated and run-down and whilst we had the benefit of an 'executive' family room in the newer part of the hotel, the 'executive' was clearly missing. I wouln't bother having a bath or shower if you are short of time. There would be more pressure from a watering can than that of the taps in our room. A bath took 15 minutes to fill a third of the way up. Meals at the hotel were a disaster, particularly our first evening meal which was a Sunday evening. Whilst there were only a few families sampling what we thought would be 'delights', the restaurant manager couldn't wait to get rid of us. Its the quickest meal I've ever eaten. The food was barely passable and they clearly do not change the table cloths between guests. Avoid buying mineral water; it was expensive and very warm!. Our second evening meal was slightly better but still there were dirty table cloths and when we asked for something to eat our sweets with, two spoons were literally thrown across the table at us. Well as for breakfasts, they were cold, greasy and we saw the chef turn over burnt toast to avoid detection. We had to wait 10 minutes for glasses for juice and by this time the juice had run out. Staff clearly couldn't cope for the number taking breakfasts and when my husband confronted the retuarant manager, he literally fled, never to be seen again!.
As a family we have stayed in a number of hotels throughout the country of various star ratings and this is the first time I have felt the need to post a review. Never again will we stay in a Quality hotel as they clearly have a different dictonary meaning than what you would normally expect. Quality it was not.

Terrible Hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member LauAgent

Just a few comments to make about the hotel:

Room was hot and stuffy- no air con, fans were supplied but didnt work properly, cigarrette burns on bed sheets, holes in lamp shades, dust on floor that had obviously not been cleaned properly and bed looked as if it was about to fall apart.

Evening meal was OK, breakfast was awful, swimming in grease. We were sat at a table, went to get our breakfast and by the time we got back they had sat someone else there!

Also shower did not turn off!

Being a travel agent, I have visited many hotels and I have to say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

lack of warmth and courtesy

by TripAdvisor Member billWirral

Arrived friday, pleasant receptionist and rooms okayish. As seems to be the case for family rooms, the hotel are aware of numbers, but tend to provide towels and teacups etc for two people only.
Corridors quite unclean at the edges and windows of room etc quite dirty. Unfortunately the views are best left unseen !
Somewhat bizarre procedure for leisure centre re towels having to be brought from own rooms and then dropped off at reception.
Timetables appear to be precise -- do NOT dare to attempt to enter the dining room one minute prior to opening times.
Sadly, the lady who managed the restaurant on the second evening gave the impression that we were unwelcome trespassers !
Communication in the restaurant is quite poor and the Continental breakfast choice failed to materialise.
Finally, check if your deal includes "kids eat from kiddies menu" as this appears to incur further charges for the children's meals.

Don't let the reviews put you off!

I booked a 3 night stay/2 day passes for Alton Towers through a website. A few days before we were due to go I read the reviews and was very tempted to cancel. However we decided to go prepared for the worst and make the most of it! I'm so glad we did as we had a great time. We were on the 3rd floor (Me,Hubby & 3 teenage daughters) The room was perfectly adequate for the 5 of us & spotlessly clean, the bathroom was new (no probs with the shower!) All staff were friendly, especially the restaurant manager and a young girl in the bar (Gave us lots of info for Alton Towers) The pool was lovely, our girls loved the jacuzzi & had their first experience of using a sauna. The food was fine. We had worried for nothing, we would definitely use the hotel again.

Great location for Alton Towers

by TripAdvisor Member Amabrow

a gang of 6 adults arrived here on Friday nite eagerly awaiting our trip to alton towers on Sat, we arrived quite late restaurnet had closed but no objection to us getting food from chipper accross the road, ate it in the lobby while v nice barman brought us our drinks. Great loaction for Alton Twoers only 20 mins to get there, also its close to town centre for heading out etc
Breakfast was ok but certainly not worth the £12 Stg they were looking for !
That nite we came back and had snacks in the bar, most of food was ok but avoid the chicken wings.
Room was small but clean and tidy, staff v friendly and helpful no complaints woudl stay again,

What a Little Gem

This hotel is superb and brilliant value for money!!!

The receptionist was very welcoming and very efficient in her job, we were made to feel welcome and of value even though we were only staying th one night.

The leisure facilities were more than adequate for the hotel's purpose including pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. All of which were clean and tidy!!

The room that we were allocated was clean and well presented with all mod-cons and a fab bathroom, mixer tap was a bit fiddly but once you had the hang of it it was really powerful and hot!

We had dinner in the restaurant which the food was delicious and affordable, however i did the notice the distinct lack of other customers possibly because the menu that was on offer had the wrong dishes on it, all the same it was lovely.

Breakfast was brill with supurb choice and yet again well presented food.

All in all it was a great stay and I am definitely staying at this hotel the next time I go to Alton Towers as it really is only 30 minutes away!

Only thing that could be improved is the general look of the hotel inside and outside, it is clean and tidy and certain elements have been modernised but the parts that haven't are looking tired and could ue some updating.

We arrived early evening on saturday, and checked in straight away with no hassles, room was clean and had everything you would need, shower wasnt great but for two nights it was fine, the bar staff were friendly and helped us book a taxi the next day for Alton Towers, on the Sat night it was abit noisy as you are very near to the town so wouldnt be good if you had children, breakfast was good and had a great choice for everyones needs. Have already recommended this hotel to friends and would def go back and stay there if i go to Alton Towers again, also great value for money!

nice hotel good value

by TripAdvisor Member melow

We stayed as a group of four adults for a two night stay as we travelling to Alton Towers over the bank holiday weekend, when we arrived we were very worried after reading the earlier reviews, we stayed in room 338 the room was very spacious and clean, the curtains were nice and thick which kept out all the daylight the towels were fluffy, extra pillows were also provided, the only faults about the room if you wanted to be picky were that the spa in the bath did not work, the water pressure on the shower was very low, our bed was hard and a thicker duvet would have been nice, also the radio on the T.V was not tuned in, although these things did not matter to us as we were only staying for two nights, the hotel bar has a nice atmosphere with lovely big comfy sofas, the staff were helpful and provided us with information about taxis and buses, and the breakfast was very tasty! I would definately go back to this hotel...P.S I would not recommend the all you can eat buffet in the curry house next to a bar called Pinks!

Not too bad

by TripAdvisor Member ChrisPElkin

Stayed here on 30th June 2007 with my girlfriend for one night. Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. We were unable to open the window in the room, which made it a bit stuffy. Breakfast was good and it was overall a good hotel. The room left a card which allows you to tick off items which don't work. There was no hairdryer, mini bar, air con, there was a heated towel rail though! If you need to stay in Stoke-on-Trent for Alton Towers, I would choose a Holiday Inn or Moat House, but it wasn't too bad. I would stay at this hotel again.
