Oatcakes was born in North Staffordshire and are Britain's longest surviving food industry. It is made of oatmeal, flour, water, salt and yeast. There are many shops selling oatcakes in Staffordshire but one of the most popular one is here. Personally, I hate it. But what's love got to do with it ey...?

Stoke suburb-Trentham

by Thistle-Rose

We both decided to visit Trentham Gardens for our May Bank Holiday weekend. We also had decided to visit the potteries museums in Stoke-on-Trent and the Wedgwood museum, unfortunatley we never had time but would like to have seen more of Stoke.

"Trentham Gardens"

We were so lucky to have fantastic weather when we visited Trentham Gardens and had a relaxing day walking around the shops and admiring the beautiful Italianate gardens.

"Monkey Forest"

One of the main reasons we decided to visit Trentham Gardens was the chance to see the Barbary Monkeys up close and roaming around freely at the Monkey Forest. Its great walking around and watching the antics of some of the monkeys theres also very helpful guides and feeding times can be funny to see.

Stoke on Trent

Home Sweet Home!

A Dutch friend of mine once said that he knew where he came from and he knew where he was going to be buried. What happened in the meantime, he was not sure about. It's the same with me. Stoke, or to be more precise, Draycott-en-le-Moors, a small village several miles from Stoke is home, where I will always belong, and where I'll be lowered six feet under. It's a great place... well, maybe. To the passing tourist it appears a poverty-stricken dump. That's because it is, but in amidst that dump are some of the friendliest people and the best community spirit in the UK. My only complaint is that it is too inward-looking at times.

An oft missed out city with a fascinating industrial heritage, some beautiful countryside surrounding it, a warm welcome and the world's greatest football team with some of the most passionate and longest-suffering fans in Europe, there is more to Stoke than meets the eye.
