The Crown Hotel: The Crown Hotel - Historic Hotel

The Crown Hotel is housed in a timber framed building which dates back to the 15th century. Situated on the main road that runs through Bildeston, it has been lovingly renovated and has ten individually designed bedrooms, an excellent restaurant (see my Restaurant review for details), and a relaxed bar.

Their website gives details of each room, so you can request the one that best suits your style when you book. We chose Room 9, with its leather and fur bed. The room was nicely decorated with a wall-mounted TV and a heated floor in the bathroom. On arrival, the manager gave us a tour of the room and a full explanation on how to operate everything - from the TV and stereo system, to the shower and even the plug in the sink!

We enjoyed a drink in the bar and a fabulous meal in the restaurant. If weather permits, there is an outdoor area for drinks and food as well. Plenty of parking can be found at the rear of the hotel.

Breakfast was included in our room rate, and was served in the restaurant. Cereal, juice, toast and tea or coffee is provided, plus you can select a hot meal from a short menu. Alex opted for the Full English breakfast, while I was more in the mood for Boiled eggs with toast soldiers.

The only negative thing I can mention is that they could do with buying some new irons for guest use - when we turned on the iron we were given a lava-looking substance started bubbling out of it!
