BSE's Historic hotel
This is a great hotel that has been revamped over the last few years (I worked here as a chambermaid back in the '80s when there were plenty of floral bedspreads and chintz curtains - thank goodness they have now gone...!)

Bury St Edmunds' Best!!
I loved this hotel. Right from the moment I read about it. The location is simply superb, with views overlooking the Abbeygate. The hotel is actually an 15th century former coaching inn that has been modernised to a very good standard yet still maintaining the traditional feel of the place. The quality of the room, food and service was outstanding and helped make it a perfect weekend escape location. The hotel restaurant, the Angel Eaterie, has recently been overhauled and now offer top-class food and wine in a very stylish setting. This is THE hotel to stay in when in the area.

Angel Hotel
I didn't actually stay here, I took my parents for a meal. There was a reasonable choice from the menu and although the service was a bit slow, once the food did come, it was excellent.
Unique Quality: The disabled access was good but the most refreshing thing was to see the young wine waiter (he didn't look old enough to buy alcohol) knowing how to present and pour win correctly. Definitely a dying art which this young man was continuing
