Accomodation in Ipswich

by lou31

I am trying to find some accomodation in Ipswich at a reasonable price...30 - 40 pounds. I will only be staying the one night.

Does anyone know of a decent B&B or cheap hotel?

Also I will be visiting Jimmy's Farm which is a few miles to the south. Does anyone know much about the place. I watch the show religiously here and would love to see it for myself.

Any advise about Ipswich will be greatly appreciated.

I take it you have looked at the website, which shows you how to get there. It's a bit out of the way, so you'll probably need to go by car.

It's also marked on Google Earth.

Can't help with accommodation I'm afraid.

Travel Tips for Ipswich

A Walk Through Downtown

by Carnation

Part of the town centre shopping area.
No through traffic is allowed here so it is quite safe to amble along and do some window shopping.
Another part of town that is sealed off to traffic.
Again, you can shop along here at your leisure without having to worry about traffic.
You can find almost anything to buy here just as in Carr Street.
You will find "The Walk" just off Tavern Street. A quaint narrow Tudorial alley and the remains of days gone by, when streets were narrowly built and the buildings closely knit. The cobblestone ground. Walking through here, you sense the history that once was.
There are two entrances to Tower Ramparts shopping mall.
This entrance is a modern architectural piece and it really does stand out from the other buildings.

St. Peter's

by Airpunk

St. Peter’s is among the churches made redundant in Ipswich. Since the early 1970s, the church fell into decay and it took 25 years until the first efforts for restoration began. The church is in care of the Ipswich Historic Churches Trust, which tried to make different use concepts for this church during the past few years. However, none of them was successful. It was planned that a company should have moved in, but this was not realised. In the 1990s, a model railway club used this place as a clubroom. The church is from the 14th century, but stands on the site where the first church was built in Ipswich in Saxon times. A notable item in this church is the black marble square norman font. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to see it. The church is only open twice a week for visitors…

Anyway, it is said that St. Peter's, located at the place from which Ipswich began to grow and Ipswich being among the oldest towns in England, was the longest continually occupied urban parish.

Home of the greatest team in the world

"C'mon the Town!"

I was not born here, but my Dad was and my Gran still lives near Woodbridge. She used to live near Shingle Street, and I have fond memories of going down the beach as a kid. I lthink Suffolk's a beautiful part of the country, but its not exactly a top holiday destination.

Still, the best thing about it is the football team, Ipswich Town FC. We're currently fighting to get promoted back into the premiership, we've a proud history and and fine traditional of attractive passing football, and the club is one of the friendliest in the country. I would highly reccomend going to see them - so far this season we've hardly had a single 0-0 draw(!) so at least you'll get a few goals!
