Fabulous break!

My husband and I spent last weekend at the Lythe Hill Hotel to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary.
We have both extensively travelled and have stayed in some fantastic places and we really thought that Lythe Hill was superb!
We stayed in the 'Nancy Astor' room with a huge bed, huge marble bathroom, flat screen tv and a seperate seating area.
We used the Spa facilities which were lovely and relaxing. Our only critisism was that the plates and glasses weren't cleared quickly enough from the sunbeds around the pool. Very minor.
We ate in the Auberge on the first night and when I read the review below I could believe it.
Firstly the 'ham hock with something like foie gras in it ' that the advisor write was beautiful! (also, the menu does state that it contains foie gras!!!) If they didn't want the ham hock there were other choices on the menu such as duck, seafood bisque, smoked meats or red onion tart!!
We were taken into the lounge for champagne and canapes before dinner, then we had a superb meal. I had venison and my husband had beef. The presentation, staff and setting made this a wonderful meal. The attention was second to none! The meal was finished off with coffee and hand made chocolates! What more could you want!
We ate in the other restaurant on the second night which was equally fanastic. The setting was modern and the food was great!
Even the breakfasts were served beautifully.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.
I would recommend this hotel for adults as I don't think that my 6 year old would enjoy it as much as adults would.
What a Fantastic Stay!!

We arrived early (1:00pm) on the Sunday afternoon, we were told our room, which was one of the refurbished rooms was ready for us, the staff were extremely friendly, and proceded to take us to our junior suite, taking full advantage of the Sunday night offers!
The rooms were very nicely decorated, 2 LCD Tv's, one in the bedroom and one in the lounge area, very nice! The bed was hugh and very comfortable, got a great nights sleep, partly beacuse we were away from the Kids!!
We made full use of the Armana Spa facilities, which were great. My wife had a swedish massage, which she loved!!
The Food in the Restaraunt (which was included in the price, as was the full english) was very nice, the drinks were a little bit pricey, so stuck with tap water! I know im a cheap skate!!
All in all a wonderful time was had, my only complaint if I had to make one was the rooms did not have any robes, so if you go to Lythe Hill, (and I would definately reccomend it) take your own robes.
Steve.
Very Enjoyable Stay

Me and the girlfriend got a late deal on the internet for 1 night's stay, which included a spa treatment, 3 course a-la-carte meal, a garden view room, breakfast and another spa treatment the next day for a very good price.
The hotel was under refurbishment in the newer section, we were staying in the old house above the restaurant and bar so didn't hear anything. It is very quiet and peaceful, the room looked a bit dated but nothing to really moan about. We did have 2 LCD TV's in our room, one in the small front room and one in the bedroom. My girlfriend had the spa treatment which she really enjoyed. The dinner service was exceptional, I didn't actually like the food as I am a picky eater but the presentation was superb. The bed was comfortable and we didn't want to get up for breakfast. We both had the Full English which was big enough for us, and there was offer for more toast if we needed.
Overall I recommend staying here!
Great service and stunning surroundings

The setting alone is fantastic for this hotel. Really, beautiful rolling hills and if you are into walking then the day you check out there can be nothing more pleasant than the hotel's delicious full English Breakfast to prepare you for a good walk in the country hills.
The rooms have recently undergone a real transformation. Previously, each room was delightful and had it's own character but in parts were looking a little run down or dated (albeit they were always spotlessly clean). I went with my husband for a break together leaving our daughter with our parents and it was fantastically relaxing.
A peaceful setting (a lovely contrast from the noise and grit of London, yet not too far to get too), we checked in with the reception staff who gave a us a really warm welcome.
We headed straight to the hotel spa which I have to say is amazing. I had a fantastic hot stone treament which was unlike any hot stone treatment I had experienced before. It really relaxed the muscles and revived me. The spa has a steam room and a sauna although it is a shame the sauna is not a little larger. The peace of the spa was spoiled on a couple of occassions by children of guests staying at the hotel which while unavoidable is a bit of a bug bear when you have booked a weekend break away from your own.
Dinner was great. the hotel has an old hunting lodge as its restaurant with lots of beams etc which made for a really romantic setting. A drink before dinner in the newer conservatory section was lovely, however there is also a dining area which is set within a conservatory type extension and had we been dining in there I would have disappointed as it would have been a shame to have missed all the authentic beams. Service was amazing, the staff when out of their way to accommodate my allergy and the food was some of the best I have experienced outside London!
Never again

We booked the Wine and Dine package but was contacted by the restaurant manager 2 days before we were due to go to inform us that as the hotel was full they were closing the Auberge and everybody was going to be put into the other restaurant. I was very concerned at this rather odd arrangement but decided to go anyway after we were categorically assured that the menu would be the same. Without going into exhaustive detail, upon arriving it was a fiasco - apparently closing the Auberge was not an isolated case as the people in front off us had re-scheduled their previous booking as the Auberge had also been closed for the same reason a few weeks before when they had their original booking. I spoke to the manager and did not get a single 'sorry' or any type of apology and I found his manner very unpleasant so we cancelled and refused to pay any fee. If you are booking to eat in the Auberge be very careful that they are not closing it when they get busy as I could not find this in their terms and conditions.
