Considering the Carlton Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne?

City Walls by steventilly
Newcastle was once ringed by walls, which started on the Quayside at Sandgate, circled the city and ended up back at the Quayside just beyond where the castle keep stands. Not much remains of these walls, but one of the best preserved sections is The West Wall on Bath Lane, just beyond Stowell Street. Here the moat has been restored, though not filled. One of the Chinese restaurants opposite is called 'The Great Wall' which reflects not only The Great Wall of China, but also Newcastle's city walls.
