More about Jesmond Dene House
Great room... great food... great location

Stayed at the Jesmond Dene House Hotel whilst visiting family at Christmas 2006. Rooms are large and well-appointed. Food and cocktails were fabulous and Father Christmas provided the turndown service on Christmas Eve leaving a stocking full of edible treats for us. Could not fault the service.
Excellent, something special

Fabulous! From the moment I laid eyes on the beautiful building and grounds to the check out in the morning. Had a beautiful meal in the restaurant. Attentive and pleasant staff. Beautiful, tasteful rooms. Loved the surroundings. Very romantic and a wonderful place for a wedding.
What a hotel

I stayed at JDH for a business function in the Great Hall and what a wonderful place to have dinner. The meal was sensational the peppered beef fillet melted like butter.
The hotel has been recently converted from a former school house in a Victorian arts and crafts villa which has been tastefully extended to respect its surroundings. No expense has been spared.
The room was large and well appointed with contemporary fittings and decoration but in a style which respected the original house.
The bed was large and comfortable. It’s the first time I have had someone come into the room whilst I was at dinner and turn the bedside lights on and lay out bathrobes etc.
The room rate I saw was a corporate one but I have been told that in comparison to other hotels in Newcastle the rates are very good.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful
Top Class Hotel
Good Food - Rooms takes some getting used too

We stayed at the Jesmond Dene the first weekend in December. We had the Apartment and then moved to the Noble Suite. Both rooms were nice, but the Apartment had minimal windows - really only sky lights and felt too closed in. We moved to the Noble suite which was better. The shape of the rooms were both odd as as they were under the eves and they feel a bit small, though the foot print is quite large.
We had dinner one evening and the meal had very good service, and reasonably good food.
We are tough critics as we usually stay in 5 star hotels and have stayed all over the world. All in all, one of the better hotels I've stayed at not in a major metropolitan area.
Great staff, well appointed hotel

My family stayed at this hotel in November 2006 for the first time, and were delighted with the experience. Great, very friendly staff, good, well appointed rooms, with a designer flourish, but showers, no bath, in a spacious en suite, a bit strange. Maybe just the rooms we had....?
We ate at Bistro 21, Terry Labourne's original restaurant in Newcastle, taxi arranged by hotel, food very good, but looking at the menu at Jesmond Dene I think it deserves a try next time we stay here. Breakfast was great. The overall experience left us feeling glad we had found this hotel. We will definitely be back, good vallue for money, and a personal service, which in these days of chain "4 star" ripoff hotels is a really refreshing change.
big disapointment

We visited the hotel in Februrary and had really been looking forward to it. The hotel looked immpressive staff were proffessional but not very approachable. Room was very small we had to work our way round bed to get to bathroom and it overlooked bins. we have stayed in various hotels over the years and are not against high prices if room and food standards are high but im afraid the food was a huge disapointment. We didn't expect 'truck driver' portions but PLEASE not 'budgie size' ones. Pate 2 inch sq with thimble of chutney, main course duck was a DUCK LEG, on a bed of leek , yes a duck leg what good restaurant would serve duck leg ,it was so bad we had to find the funny side. Crab cake starter was one tiny crab cake on its own on the biggest plate Ive ever seen.
We enjoy good food and can appreciate find dining but im afraid this is taking the MICK. I think Terry Laibourne needs to go back to supervising what leaves his kitchens instead of just counting the takings!!!!!!!
Fabulous weekend.

Fabulous weekend here - delightful, charming, and most of all, efficient staff. Food at every meal was exemplary, and we were lucky to be there for a local food hero's evening, with a meal designed by Robert Latimer, which was absolutely delicious. Restaurant personnel very knowledgeable and helpful. Our room, though not large, had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone.
A Bit Special

My wife and I stayed here following a function in April, and what a treat! The property is absolutely fantastic - the finish and attention to detail throughout is exemplary, and the helpful staff are always on hand to attend to your every need.
The bedroom we stayed in was extremely comfortable, ensuring that we had a very relaxing stay.
On top of all of this is the food, which is absolutely first class. I would heartily recommend Jesmond Dene as a place to stay. Quality runs through the entire establishment, and the location is very relaxing, and is also very handily located for the City of Newcastle and the surrounding areas.
