Hello
I'm from France and I've spent a year nit far from Newcastle , in hartlepool.
I'm a student in English linguistics and have to work on the geordie accent .
This year I've not been able to get some recordings of young people speech.
I'm now asking someone living in newcastle and who knowS young people aged from 12 to 16 girls and Boys to make some recordings so I can analyse them.
It is urgent and I really need some help.
The schools I have contacted during the year told me that they wouldn't have time
And to achieve this work I really need a few recordings of 20 minutes each.
Can somebody help me ?
thanks a lot
I do not know how you would get such tapes but to listen to the local accent you can listen to BBC Radio Newcastle and Metro Radio ( serves Newcastle/Sunderland) on the net. Just put their names in a search engine such as Google.
hello
Thank you for your reply . I've already listened the radio but I need to analyse young people speech now. I have tapes of adults but I need recordings of adolescents to compare them with those of newcastle .
I hope someone can help me
My son has just turned 13. I could ask him to tape some of his friends.
What sort of thing would you like taped?

Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. In 1928 Newcastle Brown Ale won the gold medals at the International Brewers' Exhibition in London. Newcastle Brown Ale quickly established itself as a favourite brew in the North East of England and was soon available in pint bottles and half pint bottles throughout the whole of the North East. It is the top selling bottled beer in Europe and also in the world if you actually look at Brown Ale as being an ale.

Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland is an important monument built nearly 2,000 years ago by the Romans in Britain and marks the boundaries of a once mighty empire. There are enough of the walls which still remain visible for it to be designated a World Heritage Site in 1987.
Originally the wall was a gigantic defensive fortification across the narrowest part of Britain which went from the banks of the Tyne in the east to the Solway Firth in the west, and then across some of the most remote countryside in England.
A new bus service runs direct from Wallsend and Newcastle to Hadrian's Wall.
