    Terrible, Terrible, Terible-Must do better

    by

We arrived at the Hotel around 7ish in the evening, after passing the entrance twice, could do with an illuminated sign than indicates where the entrance is, considering they are charging £4 per day for the rather tight parking, and there is no designated disabled parking bay , very unreasonable price to pay to park... Especially as we had two cars. The reception area is so cramped you wondered if the staff could function under the stairs, not a welcoming site to see. The receptionist came across as a frightened bunny in the head lights...

The room reminded us of Student accommodation, a small double room with a huge plasma screen tv wedge on top of what was laughing called a wardrobe... Bedding was clean, as was the rest of the room, there was complimentary Tea & Coffee, etc provided.

The Bathroom, if we were in prison, I`m sure it would have been somewhat bigger, if only on a human right petition. I have never seen such a small sink, the shower was clean. the toilet lid kept falling down, even when you were sat on the loo it just fell on your back. I did complain but I fear it fell on deaf ears... I did also mention there was a slight leak from the toilet, but again nothing was done about it... Complimentary toiletries also provided.

Breakfast was excellent a very good selection of food on offer, I have no real complaints, adequate portions, apart from when we ordered Scrambled Egg with Bacon & Mushrooms, they placed the eggs on toast which I did`nt want or ordered ...
There is a fantastic Restaurants just down the road....

This was a trip of both business and pleasure for me and my partner, he is a romantic man so he will always try and make the best of a situation for us....As we could not be together for Valentines, we made time to meet up to be together.

Unique Quality: If you are looking for a romantic get away, honeymoon, anniversary celebrations, 5* accommodation, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO BOOK .... If your a traveller, and all your looking for is somewhere to lay your head for a night or two, with no frills whatsoever then this is the place for you.

Travel Tips for Kenilworth

They could build a whole tourist industy on this..

by sourbugger

Considering some of the rather tenuous titles that some places award themselves to try and the tourists it seems surprising that Kennilworth has not made more of a connection with the humble potato.

It is said that Sir Walter Rayleigh brought the first potato to european shores in Elizabethan times. Queen Liz herself was being royally entertained by the Earl of Derby at Kennilworth Castle. Good Queen bess may have been a good Queen, but she also knew a free meal ticket when she saw one. Her stay at the castle nearly bankruped the Earl. In an effort to keep her amused she was offered the aforementioned potato. As the worthy inventions of crisps, chips or potatoe Dauphoinoise lay some years off - she attempted to eat it raw. In disgust, she threw the spud out of the window. Some passing local picked it up, planted it and hence was became solely responsible for chronic levels of heart disease in the UK and the Irish Potato famine.
