Travel Tips for Royal Leamington Spa
Handsome domestic Architecture
by yooperprof
"The Parade" was the center of Leamington's tony society in the 19th century. It was built up between 1820 and 1835, and still retains its patina of comfort. I especially like the fine wrought iron that decorates many of the terraces.

Leamington’s Pump Room Gardens
Pump Rooms
by grayfo
A new cultural and tourism complex has been created in Leamington Spa's historic Royal Pump Rooms.
The total cost of the project undertaken by Warwick District Council was £7 million. Work began on site in winter 1997 and the Royal Pump Rooms opened to the public in summer 1999.
The Town's Art Gallery and Museum, Library and Tourist Information Centre have now moved to the restored building, alongside the existing Assembly Room and a new Café.
Temperate House
by easyoar
This Temperate House is actually pretty small (especially if you have visited the ones in Kew Gardens), but it is still quite impressive, and cost £3 Million to build! It was partly paid for by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Apparently the Temperate House represents the evolution of plants from 500 million years ago to the present day (although this was lost on me when I went inside!). However it is free to go inside, and is well worth popping in to if you are in Jephson Gardens.
All Saints Church
by easyoar
The current church is from the 19th century, although there has been a church on this site for around 900 years. The architecture is Victorian gothic. This is one of the larger parish churches in England, and is comparable in size to some cathedrals. It can hold 600 people easily and 1000 at a squash!
Apparently the church is not actually finished (at least not to its original design), and a great central tower is missing. When this church was built, Leamington was an affluent town (the money had come from tourists visiting the spa waters). The residents wanted a church whose size and grandeur fitted in with their aspirations for the town. The church was built around the previous (and much smaller) parish church. This smaller church was used until the bigger new church was in a fit state to be used, at which point it was demolished. As a point of note, on Good Friday in 1998 (a important holy day just before Easter), the church was completely surrounded by water when the River Leam burst its banks. There was so much water that all church services had to be cancelled!
