Looking for coach day trips

by flyingbrows

I am an international student at uni of Birmingham. My mum is coming here with me in June for a month from my home country. I would like to book several coach day trips based on birmingham to famous UK attractions, such as cambridge and Windsor. University does offer some day trips for international students, but only one to Brighton fits my time table. National Express and British railway usually take quite a long time with several stops or changes.

I prefer to have Coach day trips. They would save time and money. When I was in Northampton last year, I usually went day out with a travel angent called "the Yorks". It is quite nice. But i haven't any idea about coach trip in birmingham. hopefully I can find a similar one here!

Thanks!

Can't help with specifics, but you could get hold of a local paper........they often have lists of day trips run by local coach firms.......or look in the local Yellow Pages for coach firms, or phone the Birmingham Tourist Information Office & ask their advice. Tourist Info people are usually the best bet, although a local library will also be able to help. I'm sure you'll find something pretty quickly.

Hi
I could be wrong, but i think if you go into the tourist information they usually have a selection of coach company brochures that run from birmingham, i am sure the people that work there will be able to help you find something.

Travel Tips for Birmingham

Packing List

by barcodex

There are many different shops in Birmingham where you can find everything that you forgot to take with you. Weather in Birmingham does not differ a lot from other city in British Midlands. Well, let's admit that there are more picturesque cities in the world. But anyway, if you take too few films with you, it is always possible to buy a new one anywhere in Birmingham!

Highbury Hall, 4 Yew Tree...

by J_P_B

Highbury Hall, 4 Yew Tree Road, Moseley, Birmingham

This was the home of Joseph Chamberlain and is an absolutely beautiful example of Victorian Gothic architecture. It is set in Highbury Park which is on the border of Kings Heath and Moseley. They have all sorts of nights that they put on there, such as murder mystery evenings and the like. You can also get married here, but there is a very long waiting list! It is beautiful, although only open to the public 4 times a year :(

Mendelson's Elijah

by Galahad about Symphony Hall

Go to a concert in Symphony Hall. If classical music is not your scene there are frequently other types of concerts or gigs at Symphony Hall.
In October 2000 Carol and I went to a concert of Mendelson's Elijah given by the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and chorus. Casual.

Train routes from Birmingham Snow Hill

by Galahad

Chiltern Rail provide the cheapest service from Birmingham to London. This service was extended north and westwards out of Birmingham to Stourbridge Junction and from September 2002 further west still to Kidderminster.
All of the local trains to Stourbridge and Kidderminster from Birmingham go to and from Moor Street and Snow Hill and NOT New Street Station.
24.2.03 Chiltern Rail was named the Train Operator of the year for the 2nd year running.

Sophisticated Curry!

by Lyndra about Shimla Pink's

Shimla Pinks is a fantastic Indian restaurant that has some exquisite food to be eaten in the nicest surroundings. The decor of this restaurant is modern and innovative - quite loud but tempered with calm and sophisticated table settings. The staff are lovely and service is excellent. The food is varied and gorgeous. I never manage to finish the food I eat when I go here - there is too much of it. It is so nice that you can't resist ordering starters and mains. Wine selection is average but there are some beer alternatives that may suit the curry options better. A really nice restaurant and a good night out. I love the look and taste of the massive onion bhajee starters - yummy!
