Packing List

There are many different shops in Birmingham where you can find everything that you forgot to take with you. Weather in Birmingham does not differ a lot from other city in British Midlands. Well, let's admit that there are more picturesque cities in the world. But anyway, if you take too few films with you, it is always possible to buy a new one anywhere in Birmingham!
Highbury Hall, 4 Yew Tree...

Highbury Hall, 4 Yew Tree Road, Moseley, Birmingham
This was the home of Joseph Chamberlain and is an absolutely beautiful example of Victorian Gothic architecture. It is set in Highbury Park which is on the border of Kings Heath and Moseley. They have all sorts of nights that they put on there, such as murder mystery evenings and the like. You can also get married here, but there is a very long waiting list! It is beautiful, although only open to the public 4 times a year :(
Mendelson's Elijah
by Galahad about Symphony Hall
Go to a concert in Symphony Hall. If classical music is not your scene there are frequently other types of concerts or gigs at Symphony Hall.
In October 2000 Carol and I went to a concert of Mendelson's Elijah given by the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and chorus. Casual.

Sophisticated Curry!
by Lyndra about Shimla Pink's
Shimla Pinks is a fantastic Indian restaurant that has some exquisite food to be eaten in the nicest surroundings. The decor of this restaurant is modern and innovative - quite loud but tempered with calm and sophisticated table settings. The staff are lovely and service is excellent. The food is varied and gorgeous. I never manage to finish the food I eat when I go here - there is too much of it. It is so nice that you can't resist ordering starters and mains. Wine selection is average but there are some beer alternatives that may suit the curry options better. A really nice restaurant and a good night out. I love the look and taste of the massive onion bhajee starters - yummy!
