Cheap accomodation near Birmingham Airport?

by tddm04

Hi there. My flight arrives in Birmingham on a Saturday about 10pm and I don't believe that there is a YHA in Birmingham. There is a hostel in Oxford but according to the bus and train timetables the last connection from Birmingham( city and aiport) is 9pm.
There is a novotel at the airport but costs about £70 per night.
Does anybody know of cheaper accomodation either near the airport or in the city?

Thanks, Tom.

Many thanks for all your helpful information Joe. I was thinking of Coventry or Leamington Spa but again the connections to Leamington aren't good at that time. I will only have 1 bag so that won't be a problem!
Cheers, Tom.

Last time I was in Birmingham I stayed in the Ibis. It was fine, and and a bit cheaper at £53 per night.

If you don't mind sharing, you can get a bed in a dorm at O'Grady's hotels for less than £25. I've never been there though so don't know what it is like.

If neither of these appeal, I agree that Coventry is likely to be cheaper than Birmingham.

St. Paul's Square is a beautiful Georgian square in the centre of Birmingham. It isn't easy to find, but well worth the effort. There are some great bars and restaurants around it and it is a place of tranquility sitting among urban sprawl. Very relaxing. Incidentally, if you need a hair cut, go to Jake Samuel in St. Paul's Square - Colin and Gareth will be happy to help. Hi guys!

This has got to be one of my favourite clubs in Birmingham.
This club plays some of the best house music around. This club also attracts the UK's best DJ's.

Republica is my fave night (Saturdays). If you get in before 10:30pm it is usually cheaper entry. The Club usually closes at around 4am. smart casual

If your coming from abroad I would say plane which you get to London. However from there to get to Birmingham you will have to get the train or bus.
As it's so large I think it would be quite hard for you to get all around on foot and so really bus or taxi. However if you take your car then it is quite well sign posted!

Great Pasta

by Lyndra about Del Villagio, Broad Street

Del Villagio is part of a small chain of restaurants - there is another one in Birmingham City Centre near the Bull Ring. The Broad Street restaurant has a take away shop next door which is handy if you fancy your Italian food on the run! Del Villagio is a very clean and modern looking restaurant that benefits from its position right in the middle of the busiest stretch of the City Centre. It can often be quite busy so it might be best to book a table in advance.
The choice of starters is good and you can choose pasta as a starter too but beware if you decide to do this, the pasta starter is a full size dish and is so filling you may not have room for your next course. The wine selection is delightful and we chose a lovely Rose on our last visit. Main meals are standard Italian options but they are certainly not as well presented or as tasty as the pasta. The pasta is fantastic and i will stick to this for my next visit. Deserts are very chocolate based and this was a problem for me. Service is excellent if a little formal. Prices are as you would expect from this type of restaurant.
