One day in Birmingham
by Patricia84
Hi there!
I would be making a day trip from London to Birmingham and I would like to know some of the good places to see for one day. I have already plan to go to Cadbury World (I love chocolate! =)) So I would like to know anywhere else that is worth a visit. Thanks a lot! Cheers! :)

I think you should go on a canal barge trip in birmingham city centre
It starts around Brindley place area and is only around £4
The bullring is now good for shopping and the mail box for a nice drink if its hot for a drink by the canal.
There is always birmighams sea life centre but its the same as every other one in the country
Hope this helps

As other's have mentioned, Sea Life Centre, Jewellery Quarter/Museum and Bull Ring are all based in Birmingham City Centre whereas Cadbury World is further out of Birmingham City Centre and located in Bournville.
What are your intrests?
Why don't you plan a VT meeting or something for the day and then see how the day goes, depending on what day it is, I'll come and show you around Brum.
Travel Tips for Birmingham
Why did I choose here ?
by sourbugger
Just outside the door to the main terminal at Birmingham International Airport is a fingerpost sign to a whole range of European cities (and Beyond) that you can reach with a flight from the airport.
Some more sarcastic commentators might remark that a European arriving at Birmingham for a weekend break might reflect (in the piddling rain of course) the other options they could have taken when booking a flight !
Cadbury World - A chocolate experience
by vago1
Cadbury World offers plenty for both kids and chocolate-loving adults alike. There are rides, a factory tour, chocolate-making demonstrations and lots of the popular chocolates for sale at discount prices in the factory shop. You can also learn about the history of both chocolate and the Cadbury family through a series of colourful exhibitions and interactive displays. One word of warning, however: the Cadbury tour is very popular and visits should be booked in advance.
Wilson's sauce - HP
by sourbugger about any grocery shop in the UK
HP sauce is a wonderfully think brown sauce that can be added to any British dish, in order to make it taste of something.
It is said that Harold Wilson, the British Prim Minister in the 1970's always covered his food in the stuff. His working class credentials were this assured.
Originally produced in 1903, it became called 'HP sauce' later, when it was discovered to be on sale in restaurants in the Houses of Parliment.
The Factory in Aston, just north of Birmingham City Centre, has been in the news recently as Heinz (now owners of the brand) wish to switch production to Holland. Marches and petitions may yet save this Birmingham institution.
UPDATE : MARCH 07 - a sad day, the last shift finished last night. Buy a bottle (only about a pound) and taste the delights.
In the centre of England and...
by Pete_Barnett
In the centre of England and in the centre of all transport and communication links. Birmingham sits neatly between the M5, M6 & M42 motorways. Trains to just about everywhere, with a journey time of about 90 minutes to London. Birmingham International Airport serves most European countries and has direct flights to North America.
City centre buses are commonplace. The local buses operated by several companies, travel around the West Midlands. Trains criss - cross the town and outlying areas. A train / bus pass for the whole West Midlands region (comprising Coventry, Solihull, Birmingham, Walsall, West Bromwich, Dudley & Wolverhampton districts)should cost you no more than £13 per week.
A metro tram service links Birmingham with Wolverhampton along 28 stops and 40 minute journey time.
Great food in The Mailbox
by JohnScale about Bar Estilo
Mediterranean style restaurant located in The Mailbox which is one of the best shopping areas in Birmingham.
The decor is nice and relaxed and the staff are friendly. Dijon Chicken Pasta - it is really tasty and filling.
You can really taste the dijon mustard and the penne pasta is cooked to perfection.
