Best in what sense? Birmingham city centre is stuffed with pubs, bars and clubs. You wil be spoiled for choice. It all depends what appeals to you personally.
You could look at these sites:

or this

Selly Park Tavern, Pershore Road plus go next door to the Royal Watan for a brilliant Balti dinner.
Or.......if staying near th ecentre - there are lovely pubbs and bars around Brindley place and the canal basin.
You will have plenty of choices!

Aston Villa
by graeme83
Aston Villa are the biggest club in Birmingham with the biggest support, biggest stadium and most prestigious history. The team famously won the European Cup in 1982. They play at Villa Park, which is visible from the M6 motorway.
Merry hell, merry bloody hell
by sourbugger about Merry Hill shopping Centre
A massive shopping centre only a few miles from the centre of Birmingham with hundred of stores - the usual high street suspects are all here.
As with many 'trendy' schemes the planners came up with a gimmick : a monorail to transport people from the car park.
It lasted less than a year ! Breakdowns and the worries of the Fire Brigade meant it ended up being sold to some place in Austraila (see photo)
One is of course reminded of the 'monorail song' from the simpsons :
Lyle Lanley: Well, sir, there's nothing on earth
Like a genuine,
Bona fide,
Electrified,
Six-car
Monorail!
What'd I say?
Ned Flanders: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
Patty+Selma: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: That's right! Monorail!
[crowd chants `Monorail' softly and rhythmically]
Miss Hoover: I hear those things are awfully loud...
Lyle Lanley: It glides as softly as a cloud.
Apu: Is there a chance the track could bend?
Lyle Lanley: Not on your life, my Hindu friend.
Barney: What about us brain-dead slobs?
Lyle Lanley: You'll be given cushy jobs.
Abe: Were you sent here by the devil?
Lyle Lanley: No, good sir, I'm on the level.
Wiggum: The ring came off my pudding can.
Lyle Lanley: Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
All: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
All: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: Once again...
All: Monorail!
Marge: But Main Street's still all cracked and broken...
Bart: Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!
All: Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!
[big finish]
Monorail!
Homer: Mono... D'oh!
G'day mate - fancy a pint?
by UK_GUY_LOVES_VEGAS about Walkabout (Australian Bar)
This is an Aussie themed bar that also has a nightclub downstairs. The atmosphere is relaxed and this is a good place to catch some sports on the big screen TV's. The beer and food is reasonably priced.
There is also regularly live entertainment here. Casual
Birmingham goes Latin American!
by mazzap about Las Iguanas Restaurant & Cachacaria
Opened in 1991, this Latin American restaurant is proud of it's reputation & works hard to bring fresh, tasty and authentic food to your table. Latin American, Indian, Spanish, Portuguese and African are the main influences found throughout the extensive menu.
They also serve Cachaca - this is a drink made from distilled sugar cane & is the third most consumed spirit in the world by volume, only falling behind vodka and whiskey.
If you just want to pop in without having a full meal, then just spend time at the bar with a cocktail or some tapas. The music is good and the atmosphere lively but relaxed!
It is open daily from lunchtime onwards. The menu is packed with an excellent choice - not easy to order from when in a hurry! Take a look at their website to see for yourself! A friend & I had a wonderful evening here & would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality food & drink served in a great venue! I had the 'Xinxim' which is this restaurant's signature dish - it's a Brasilian lime chicken dish which according to them is Pele's favourite!
We finished off with slices of chocolate banoffi pie & lemon/lime cheesecake - both were excellent!
