Go to watch Aston Villa...
by louise_julie
Go to watch Aston Villa playing! Seriously, sit on the steps in Victoria Square (when it's dry) and watch the world go by for a while. Go to the theatre, walk up Broad Street, visit the jewellry quarter... so much to do! Nearly falling in the canal by the ICC whilst slightly tipsy! I miss my friends when I'm away.
Cricket at Edgbaston
by graeme83
Edgbaston is the home of Warwickshire County Cricket team. It is also host to many England test matches. England usually play well at this ground, so if you're an away supporter you may be better off watching your team at Lord's ;)
Pallasades

Its Birmingham’s biggest one roof shopping centre, you could find every big departmental store here.
There is car parking underneath this shopping so it makes very convenient for customers who don’t want to walk long way to get to the shopping centre. Main railway station is also not far from here..

Rustic French cuisine
by timlloydlangston about chez jules
Don't be put off by the rustic French decor - benches, plastic table cloths and exposed ducting, the food that is served up here is fantastic. It's unpretentious, wholesome French cooking (no nouvelle rubbish). The portions are large and the prices very reasonable for the city centre.
Booking is advisable at the weekend, but otherwise you should be able to just turn up. The lunchtime set menu (select from a choice of four starters and four main courses) is particularly good value at £6.90. Currently (Jan 05) they offer a similar deal on Tuesday eveneings where you get a similar menu with a bottle of wine (each!) for £13.99.
All the food is great, but the fish specials are particularly recommended (although they aren't subtle about the garlic). Other fare you'll find on regular offer is chicken in white wine (very rich sauce) and boeuf burguignon (beef stew, but very nice and lots of it). Almost every meal comes with the house special of gratin dauphinoise - potatoes and onion in a cream sauce with cheese on tops. Definitely far superior to chips.
