Trains going North from Birmingham New Street by Galahad
23rd July 2002 Virgin's service from Birmingham International to Manchester began using their brand new 'Pandolino' tilting trains, which can reach up to 140mph. Virgin have bought 53 of these trains at a cost of £1.2 billion. They continue to provide a service to Glasgow using their new Voyager trains capable of running at 125mph but the track is not suitable for the new 'Pandolino''s. From May 2003 Virgin are withdrawing their service Birmingham to Liverpool to be replaced with an hourly service by Central Trains using a new supershuttle train.
