Clay pipes, were once very common in Europe peaking between 1850-1920 , But after the great war ,cigarettes became cheaper and so took over, but during Victorian times clay pipes were cheap and broke easily so many survive today but not to many with the stems still attached...styles changed considerably I have shown a couple of examples that Ive managed to dig up over the years
