More about Arundel House Restaurant & Rooms
Fantastic food and room.....
......my girlfiend and I stayed in Arundel House R&R mid September and ate their on the Saturday night, here are my thoughts;
Great rooms, beautifully decorated.
Billy and Luke were superb hosts, made us feel extremely welcome.
Fantastic food, the scallops with panchetta for starters were amazing. Perfectly cooked!
Great wine list.
Overall, it was superb. I cannot wait to come back!
An all-star Arundel experience - we loved it!
We got married in Arundel last weekend and picked Arundel House as our home for the weekend. We booked all 5 rooms and absolutely loved it. Billy and Luke took great care of us - their attention to detail, both in terms of food and wine and their hospitality, is second to none. Arundel House made for a wonderful home from home. My bridesmaids all loved it, saying it really helped to make the whole weekend. Friends who popped in to visit raved about the decor. I never wanted to leave the beautiful suite, spread across two floors, which was the perfect place to get ready for my wedding, with plenty of room for dresses, shoes, make-up, hairdryers and champagne glasses to be sprawled across the place! Aside from the beautiful rooms and food, what really makes this place is the small touches so many other hotels forget - the hairdryers in all rooms which actually work, shampoo that you want to use - not avoid, home-made fudge to greet you in your room on arrival, Billy serving bucks fizz to your hungover wedding guests when they pop in to say hello the day after .... We will most definitely be back.
We booked our stay here to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, well, we couldn't have been happier.
From the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left, we received the most welcoming and helpful service you could hope for.
The decor is wonderful, setting a relaxing ambience throughout. Our room was spotlessly clean with all the comforts we could need for an overnight stay. (If not more)
The food...... well what can i say. It was difficult to choose from such a tantalising menu, but, our choices were rewarded well.
The scallops were fantastic, the halibut divine, luckily we didn't need to choose between the desserts as Luke offers an assiette, a taster of all his beautiful desserts on 1 plate.
Well done to Luke, Billy and all the staff, your eye for detail
has produced an impecable establishment that we, and hopefully lots of other lucky people, will no doubt visit again.
Thankyou so much
This is a really nice little hotel. The owners are always on hand and are very helpful. The rooms are very nice, and the bathrooms in particular are great - really good showers and loads of towels and nice toiletries. Breakfast is superb. Only things that stopped it being complete hotel heaven were a) no kettle in room and b) it's an old building directly on the road so we did get some noise from outside and from the room above. Overall it is a very nice, good value place to stay.
Ist Class Service
We stayed the night at the Arundel House what a discovery. We were attending my brothers 50 th birthday party locally , the welcome we received when we arrived made us feel most welcome. Our room was fantastic all mod cons with a great modern bathroom, you can tell that alot of thought has gone into the decore and facilities.
Breakfast was a delight and it included Black Pudding so 1st class.
We were very taken with the Restaurant chairs and Billy kindly sent us the details.
Will certainly return and try the Restaurant next time.
What a find and only 1 hour down the road from home. We stayed here for my husband's birthday. We have been lucky to have travelled to most places in the world, but to find something like this on your doorstep is fantastic. The rooms are superb (although we did miss our king size bed!!!), service impeccable, food exquisite and an overall delightful experience. Everything has been thought of, even down to a parking voucher for your car....... Keep up the good work and if you ever decide to buy a bigger place in a different area, do let us know where you go to!!!
From a very happy couple from Southampton!!
The best B&B in England
We frequently go away for nice weekends and have been a great fan of Trip Advisor to check opinions before booking. However, this is the first time that a place has been brought to our attention and booked due to a TripAdvisor communication. 5 stars... how could we go wrong?
Well quite frankly, how could we? Our opinion joins the others and think that these reviews were accurate and that this is probably the best B&B in the country. Everything about it was utterly superb.... and all whilst being amazing value for money.
I hugely admire how the owners use TripAdvisor as their guestbook as it shows how proud they are of their hotel and how they genuinely care what people think.
My only slight concern was the shower wasn't quite as perfect as some have suggested. The ability of the shower (room3) to produce hot water seems to be depending on a variable, which I imagine is others using their shower at the same time. Waiting 5 minutes and trying again produced success.
Apart from that the hotel was all extremely clean and 'new', the room comfortable and delightful and the evening meal excellent - far better than we would have expected. It's the little touches though... Something that really impressed us was the breakfast. Everything's on the menu, nothing's a problem, everything's delicious and everything's delivered with a smile. All in a way bigger hotels cannot match.
This is lovely B&B in a lovely village in lovely countryside run by some really nice people with tremendous food. We will certainly be back and most definitely agree with it's 5star rating.
My wife booked us into the Arundel House for my surprise 30th Birthday weekend. We have frequently used trip advisor as a guide of where best to stay (for example for our honeymoon last year - Ikies on Santorini) and once again it didn't let us down.
We stayed in Room 1 - which would best be described as a suite - upstairs to the bedroom and downstairs to the large bathroom/dressing room complete with a well proportioned walk in shower and fluffy bathrobes.
The breakfast is fantastic. All the ingredients of a full english (including the black pudding, field mushroom and good thick slices of decent smoked bacon) cooked anyway you like. If you want your eggs poached- no problem. If you want an omlette- no problem. This gave us a lot of confidence that we were going to be in for a treat come dinner time and we were not let down.
Champagne cocktails kicked off the evening (2 each in the end) followed by Wood Pigeon, Rack of Lamb and the assiette for desert (a small portion of each of the 5 deserts on the menu complete with a Happy Birthday message piped on in Chocolate). My wife went for the Goats Cheese filo parcel, Belly pork and helped me out with the assiette. Everything was cooked to perfection. However I was on a roll now so finished off with cheese and biscuits, a glass of port and then coffee and a Highland Park.
All in all a fantastic place to stay, wonderful food and it really did help make my 30th a great weekend.
A fantastic destination
We booked this hotel after seeing some tripadvisor reviews
which were great but don't do this hotel justice. We experienced the finest service, accomodation and food. Our room was modern, contemporary, flat screen TV etc , fantastic bathroom with big australian drench shower, complimentary mineral water.
We ate dinner which we feel was of a standard that we have had before but never bettered. Our venison was truly memorable the softest meat perfectly cooked with the perfect accompliments. Breakfast was also perfect full english but everything seemed fresher and tastier than we have encountered. We cannot find any reason to complain or quibble but hard pressed (and only as feedback not a critism) the room was a bit warm and only a fan to cool it but what the heck there are enough months in the year to visit this fine establishment, I would go far as to say I would repeat the drive (2 hours) just to eat at the restuarant but as the wine list is so good would just have to stay over and of course have the sumpteous breakfast. It occurred to us that as reasonably well travelled people we have never eaten in a michelin star restuarant, this is not one but the standard in this restuarant makes us feel that either michelin star restuarants are out of this world or maybe this is one missing from the list, we think the latter, we have eaten at the Ritz and Savoy in London,
Waldorf Astoria New York, Four Season Las Vegas all great but not better than this restuarant, book it and see for yourselves.
We will return
My husband and just spent a wonderful weekend at this tiny boutique hotel in Arundel. Arundel itself is delightful - the castle, cathedral, pubs and riverside walks. Arundel House made the weekend - from the physical setting, to the incredible (locally sourced) food and wine list it was all perfect. Perhaps not all perfect, bizarre point. We tried to order bread with our dinner and was told that they did not "do" bread for dinner. Yes, they had bread in the kitchen but only for breakfast. Minor issue, and in the end they gave us some bread. A definite recommendation and we will return.
