More about Avisford Park

wonderful stay

by TripAdvisor Member Thepearls

My husband booked this hotel for our anniversary. After reading the mixed reviews on this site we were apprehensive but from the minute we arrived everything was wonderful.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and quiet looking out over the golf course. Bathroom was new and a good size. We used the gym,the staff were great. The first night we eat excellent food in the lovely restaurant. We would definately recommend this hotel when visiting sussex, it is very peaceful and relaxing.

Good weekend break!

Booked a special offer through Hilton.com and used it for two Separate weekend stays. Check in was quick and efficient on both occasions and I had a long chat with the receptionist about local places to eat. Her recommendations were very good.

As I stayed on two different occasions, we were appointed two very different rooms. Our first room must have been very recently renovated and was very spacious, clean and well furnished and I must say very charming. The bathroom was modern, spotless and again large and very well decorated.

Breakfast was very good with the cooked breakfast being of a very high standard with very good quality produce. The orange juice was also very good and fresh. Staff although very busy – it seemed as though the hotel was fall were friendly and courteous.

On our second stay we were appointed a un-renovated room and there was a huge difference in quality. Although the room was again large and clean it did feel very dated, old and slightly scruffy. The bathroom was also old and the shower lacked water pressure with slight mould around the bath seal.

Although it was early spring, and the nights were not particularly warm, both rooms felt stuffy and as they are not air conditioned I could imagine that they would become unbearable in Summer - although a fan was provided in both rooms.

All in all it was very good value for money but make sure you get a renovated room at check-in.

Yuk!

We booked a stay for one night to have a wee break and the HIlton chain has been okay for our needs. However we anticipated that this hotel would be slightly nicer due to its location and size -alas not to be.

The room was okay - nothing special but adequate and clean.
The biggest disappointment was the pool and spa areas - very, very dirty - looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long while (glad I wore flip flops!)

The staff were okay but again it was a bit of I'm just here to fill space type of thing. Wasn't really relaxed at the end of it - especially for the price. The castle was great however - wish we stayed there!

Had a great stay

I too was very apprehensive having read the reviews of this hotel, but our friends (a group of 10) were keen so we booked.

We found our room (216) to be clean, well decorated and furnished, a good size and overlooked the front grounds of the hotel. The only noise of an evening being the fountain which was switched off late at night. Out of the five couples, we seemed to be the most fortunate with our room. One or two of the others commented that their rooms (on a diffferent floor - one of which was 214 - can't recall the others) were not furnished to the standard of of ours, but were acceptable. I think that room 218 next door to us, was refurbished too, but wasn't as spacious as ours.

Towels for the pool are tatty.

The food in the restaurant was excellent, and we were very impressed with the staff. We all considered that for £141 per couple for two nights bed and breakfast, with evening meal on the first night, it was great value.

Just two notes of warning - check in is at 3 p.m. and there were queues, and it appears to be VERY popular with weddings on Saturdays and Sundays (one on each day of our stay), therefore there can be quite alot of people around of an evening. Not a hotel for a quiet romantic evening for a couple.

I would recommend this hotel if you can book a good room.

It was festival weekend in Arundel and the town was buzzing.
