Travel Tips for Arundel
Rambling on the W Sussex Downs. A 5 minute walk from Amberly Station
From Amberley Station go left under the railway bridge to walk past the houses
of Houghton Bridge towards the structure which gives this crossing
point its name. you will find on the North Stoke Road the Houghton Bridge Turnpike House.
Or Storrington Balls Hut Turnpike.
It doesn't take long to walk around the narrow streets. Most of them are like this with walls made from chipped flint. You will find here cosy little pubs and tea shops also a wonderful Indian restaurant and quite a few antique type shops. I will get more photo's next year when I go back.
Arundel and its impressive castle
Arundel is nice town in West Sussex, between Portsmouth and Brighton, 7 km north of Littlehampton. There are many half-timbered houses but what attracts most is its huge castle. Already from the A27 you can see the castle and it looks really impressive. We stopped there on our way back to London on our last full day in England, and it was a fantasic ending of our vacatioin! We already had travelled all way from Swanage, with some traffic jams and about 40 roundabouts, so we were pretty exhaused and it was great to relax a bit in the nice castle gardens.
