Hotel Ibis Gatwick/Crawley: Cheap and simple
We actually stayed only 5,5 hours! If we would have thought it better, we might had as well stayed in airport. It took suprisingly long time to get to bus stop, wait for the bus, get to hotel and same back in the morning. But if you have few hours more, this is probably the cheapest hotel. In our case, the Yotel at airport would have been the same, because we didn´t know that airport transfer isn´t free at British hotels. In Finland it´s allways included in hotel price. Now we paid 3 pounds pp/both ways.
Rooms were typical Ibis rooms, maybe little bigger than ones we have used before. There was electric kettle and tea and coffee on the room. It was good, because we woke up at 5 o´clock, and had no time to breakfast.
There was little restaurant downstairs. Hotel is allmost in the middle of nowhere, so mostly used by airport customers I think.
We paid 33 pounds for a doubble!
The hotel does have THEIR OWN shuttle bus anyway. Someone said, that it´s not common in British hotels, so we booked tickets to some hotel-bus, and it was not a good idea. It would have been easier to use the hotels own one, and get to bus straight from the door. The bus is quite small, so I don´t know how full it is at daytime. We went at night time and were only people in it. At the morning we went to street to wait for that hotel shuttle, when other people went to Ibis-shuttle. Then it was quite full, but we would have fit in, if we wouldn´t have bought the tickets before to this other bus. So use their own one!
