In the heart of old Crawley
The George is a very old building which was originally probably a mansion type house with stables in the rear. Later it became a very busy coaching house on the route from London to Brighton. Now it is a nice small hotel. Our room was in a back annex and, while it did not have the charm some of the ones in the main building did, it was very adequate. The beds were clean and comfortable and the bath facilities in good shape and working order. Our main reason for staying here was proximity to Gatwick as it was a 15 minute taxi ride. The room had a TV and coffee/tea facilities. There is an optional breakfast for an additional charge but we opted to get to the airport early and eat there.

Blast from the past
Didn't stay here, just had lunch. My mother worked here when we lived in Crawley from1957 - 1964. So the return was to see if I remembered it. Only the exterior I'm afraid.
Had lunch with some family from the area. Mediocre at best, although the pub looked alright.
A very old building with a lot of history.
