OK so Haworth isn't really off the beaten path since it is littered with tourists BUT it isn't in Bradford itself either so I had to put it somewhere. Haworth is where the Bronte sisters grew up and got the inspiration for Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and all their other masterpieces. You can visit their home here as well as walk on the moors. If you get lost in Bradford, and you're sure you aren't far from the centre, simply start walking downhill. You'll soon arrive at Centenery square, or somewhere else equally recognisable.
If you're further out, the motorway signs tend to help if you've a rough idea of the geography.
And failing that, look for the lit up NMPFT or University of Bradford signs.
