"Bradford - A Surprising Place"
The page title is the strapline my hometown used a few years ago to boost tourism.
And I think it's fairly apt.
Bradford "enjoys" a reputation as being one of the least glamourous places in the UK to live or visit, but years of denigration have probably been a little unfair to this part of the UK.
The city centre itself certainly is unexceptional, apart from some fairly impressive relics from it's age of prosperity during the 19th century, inspired by the wool trade.
Once you move into the metropolitan district, the more pleasant aspects of Bradford become apparent.
